Wow, my firstest art post ever. A momentous occasion, no?
To the one or maybe two of you on my f'list who know I draw but have yet to see any of my art and have been waiting to, here you finally go. To everyone else... um... I hope you enjoy this as well. (Remember, lots of comments will motivate me to scan more of my work!)
Oh, and... be warned that this is a bit image-heavy. I couldn't resist adding a couple detail close-ups.
Title: True Love, with Scarves
Fandom: Harry Potter
Subject: Viktor Krum/Cho Chang
Rating: G; just cuddling
Medium: Mechanical pencil on regular sketchbook paper, cropped and sharpened in Photoshop
Disclaimer: J. K. Rowling and affiliated parties own the characters of Cho and Krum. I'm just giving them another chance to look pretty in neckwear.
Notes: Done for
rajrr for the Fourth Quarter of the 2005
hp_art_xchange (though a bit late, for which I again apologize). And thank you to
m_annalore for unwittingly inspiring this. By the way, con-crit welcome.
I'd also like to note that I meant to use the quarter's theme — color — in this, but that didn't pan out; so, to compensate, I have another drawing which I hope you'll also have a look at.

I did struggle some with both their looks, because Asian features are a bit hard for me to draw, and as for Krum I just didn't have a clear picture of him in my head... but in the end this was a lot of fun. And a great learning experience, too, drawing characters other than those I normally draw (mostly Marauders, the Malfoy family, and the Trio).
Wavy-haired!Cho may seem a bit weird to some, but I've always liked imagining her that way myself — I can't rightly recall whether something in the books put the idea in my head, or if I thought of it on my own... but I suppose it's not important. Just hope everyone is aware that this is in fact Cho, not Hermione. :P
IMPORTANT: If/when leaving feedback, please let me know what community (if any) you're here from; I'd really appreciate it!

I know it was a weird thing to ask for, so you handled it wonderfully. They look so cute together. And I like wavy-haired Cho, actually, now that you mention it... I don't think I've ever pictured her like that before, but now that you've drawn it, I'm really digging it.
Thanks so much! And yours will be done soon, I promise. :X

yeah, to be honest when i first saw the request i totally got scared i wouldn't be able to do it -- i'm just so not used to drawing minor characters or ones that don't happen to be my favorites. might actually be part of why i kept putting it off 'til it ended up being late (well... that and the scary load of school work i had at the time).
but thankfully it worked out in the end, so yey. i'm just glad i pushed myself through it and managed to draw something you like. :D

don't worry; i'm very excited, but i can wait.
*resists urge to ask what it will be*
I adore Krum particularly. Especially how you've drawn his nose and smile. :) Cho is so cute! I love her eyes. They look really good together here, and it's a ship I'd never considered before so it's nice to see some new pairings popping up. Wonderful stuff, hon! I really hope you'll be posting more art from now on. :)
P.S. Hi! I miss you. *hugs*
you're kidding, i got pointed to? and by a person who's not even one of my friends? *falls over from joy!shock* (though, would it be horribly wrong and ungrateful of me to wonder why he didn't comment, at least to tell me about the rec?)
meanwhile, thank you so very much for the wonderful feedback, you're too sweet. and i'm glad you finally did see something of mine -- i hated keeping you in suspense. (though, i did mean to mention this in a comment to your hiatus post... just hadn't gotten to it yet.) anyway, i'm so very glad to hear you liked it!
i really like how krum came out too, the more i think about it; ironically, since it was such a struggle for me to work out a look for him. i must've thrown away four or five unsuccessful krum sketches at least... then i just sat down and drew this one, and barely had to erase once. funny how inspiration works, i guess.
and it's interesting that you mention the nose. that was actually the one major thing i inadvertently kept in my other version of him (did you see that one? it's linked up top).
i was a little worried about cho's eyes, so it's good to know they came out well. and, to be honest, i never would've thought of this pairing myself either, if i hadn't been asked for it (though, now i think i might kinda like them). i'm so glad i did the Exchange -- it's such a great opportunity to expand one's horizons.
P.S.: omg, i miss you too! *glomp*
sucks we don't have the same messenger system. come back soon?
anyway... thank you very much, i'm glad to hear you liked it. (and thanks ever so for letting me know how you got here -- i was afraid nobody would pay attention to that request.)
i'm happy to hear you like cho. i was a bit worried about her looking right, so it's nice to know she came out well. :):)
by the way, if it's not too presumptuous of me to ask: did you have a chance to take a look at the other pic?
this is very cute, too.
though i imagined victor's nose smaller.
let me see ...
aaah, it's hp_fanart!
see you again, soon, i hope.

anyway, thanks for the feedback, i'm happy to hear you enjoyed it. though, thank you for the crit' too (i think exaggerating features, particularly noses, might just be part of the style i'm using here... but oh well).
to be honest i never would've thought of them together either, if it hadn't been requested (since this was for the
and they do seem sweet together, don't they? ;)
by the way, could you tell me where you saw the link to this? and if you don't mind me asking, have you perhaps had a chance to see the other piece i drew to go with this one?
(if you don't mind me asking, did you have a chance to see the other version of krum that i linked to in my notes?)
by the way, i just love your icon. *g*
And yes, I did see the other version. But I didn't like that one to much. A bit to much modern art for me. I didn't recoginze "my" Krum, if you know what I mean? :-) I like this one, much, much better. :-)
although, i must admit that the bigger reason for why i colored that one the way i did was because i felt i really needed some way to work in the "color" theme, and that was just what came to me. not that i think it's a crime not to use the assigned theme in a challenge/exchange, when it's optional... but i like to at least try.
anyway, thank you again for the feedback, including the criticism. :)
I didn't make the icon, though, ursamajr did it from one off her manips. And yes, it is shareable, as long as one credits, so snag away.
oh, thanks! i think i just might.
anyway, thanks for the feedback (and for letting me know where you saw this). i'm glad you liked it!
This is beautiful, but I especially like the fact that these two are your own vision of the characters--not the usually look for them.
is my krum that unusual too, though? i've only ever seen a couple pictures of him -- since he's not the most prominent character ever -- so i honestly wouldn't know.
I think he is. I haven't seen millions of drawings of him, but I can't remember seeing him with longish hair, and his face is usually...hmm...more stoic. Your Krum looks strong, but not as stoic, which seems appropriate for this moment that you've drawn.
may i ask where you saw the link?
(by the way, may i be so bold as to ask whether you've had a chance to see the other one yet?)
