The Dykeenies instore gig + signing, HMV, 9/7/07
I got into town to meet Jemma (
thejemmas) at about 3-ish, and well - I'm gonna cut down on the beforehand detail so that I can get onto the more exciting stuff :P We went a wee wander round about chatting and stuff whilst keeping an eye on the queue (which was non-existant till we came out of M&S and saw it at 4.30)In The Queue
We got to HMV and there I spotted Amanda whom was right behind me in the queue for the QMU gig, it was her 16th birthday, and she let us jump in with her and her pals right at the very front XD Haha get in. There we sat on the ground eating chocolate and drinking disgusting cheap M&S Cola, laughing at how much we were getting stared at/asked why we were queueing :P Jemma seemed incredibly excited at the prospect of Brian recognising me and coming over to speak to me lmao. We observed that there were some pretty young folk there, like 14 and stuff, I heard one of the security guards going "ach, it's aw gonnae be wee kids" O_O LOLZ. At some point they decided to make us all stand up for some reason, lol, and after plenty lol'ing and reminiscing about stalking times gone by and "what can I say to Brian that'll make him laugh?" we saw John and Brian walking towards HMV :P ("it's just across from Primark, how fitting" XD) and by the time they just walked past and into the shop I was already shaking like a fangirly wee leaf. Jemma was like "Now I've seen him in the flesh I can see why you love him so much" haha XD And then we squeed over his trousers; he had braces on and he had red and blue patches on his back pockets!! EEE @ him. Hehe. More Dykeenie spotting ensued - we saw Andy and admired his shoes (
alittlelost he was looking pretty damn fine I tell ye!) and a wee while later Alan.. only one we didn't see round about was Steven. But we did see other Stephen lol, as in John's wee brother, going in and buying several copies of the single :P Amusement. Anyhow, they opened the wee thing at the front and it ended up being a mad dash to get a good spot :| Lots of pushing and shoving lol. We got a pretty good spot behind some wee kids :P And we also got Dykeenies ♥ Me bags bwahahah. Calum got one as well LOLZ "manly isn't it?"Acoustic Set
The Dykeenies came out to a mahoosive crowd (who knew so many folk could fit in HMV?! LOLLZZ) and from then on out it was some good old banter and such. When they came out Brian smiled at me(!) and I had another spazz at Jemma... LOLZ..
Brian: Hiya, we're The Fratellis. Naw, not really, my hair's no' big enough. *points at Calum* His is but!

They played a five song set consisting of:
Pick You Up: This was gorgeous as per usual, it works so well both acoustically and as a near dance anthem :P Haha. I knew at this point though that it was going to be quite amazing.
New Ideas: OMG THEY DID THE FUCKING HANDCLAPS!!! I suppose its not New Ideas without the handclaps really but I hardly expected them to do it like that :P Was legendary.
Things You Cannot See: Wasn't expecting this one! Pleasant surprise though. Brilliant stuff. :] The guys did this so well, you had to be there really.
Waiting For Go: Possibly a highlight, this was amazing, Brian's voice was absolutely STUNNING on it, no joke. He sort of sang it with restrained vocals (rrr) until like the last chorus when he belted it out, and it was sososo good.
Clean Up Your Eyes: Sounds a lot different acoustically to on record, but it works really well, aw man this might've even been better than Waiting For Go. The "do-do-do-doo-do-ooo-do-do-doooo"s at the end were especially amazing. Myself and Jemma indulged in some singing afterwards :P

•Brian: Who was at T in the Park yesterday?! Aye we all got a bit drunk, John only just got home this morning. *points at Calum* I saw him there, right doon the front, was quality!
•Brian: This one's called Waiting For Go... it's the acoustic version by the way!
•Andy: We're gonna be signing some CDs and stuff after this... not ours though, we're just gonna pick up random ones from the racks and sign them for ye!
•Lol Brian and his little debate with Amanda was amusing :P

LOTS OF EYE CONTACT ALSO. Jemma didn't like the idea that you could be seen singing all the words but there's something about that I quite like for some reason :P And I was glad that when I asked Jemma if she'd noticed that Brian's zip was down, she said yes.

This was seriously one of the best times I've seen them live, some gigs just stand out, and this was one of them. Even though it was only an acoustic set, they were absolutely fantastic. <3

Signing
We went to try and queue for the signing after this only to be told to stay where we were. LOL. Jemma and I had a wee bit of a sing-song lolzz and I looked up and over at where Brian was, aaand he caught my eye and gave me the thumbs up and I grinned at him and he grinned back XD AHH SO IN THERE. And yet again Jemma had to endure my fangirling. She loves it really. Anyway we saw all these folk walking round to queue so we followed them only to realise we were in the very last of the three queues :| And that the queue was going slow as fuck so we'd take ages to get there x__X LOL. We discussed the neddish-ness of some of the people that had turned up and how fucking depressing it was (it REALLY was :S) and then as the queue started going down we noticed Stephen cut across into the other queue, so we and several others followed suit :P Lmao, we found it quite amusing Stephen was getting stuff signed "he could get them signed over dinner". Haha. So the queue started to go a bit quicker at this point and we got told to take the CDs/vinyl out and just get the actual things signed because the pens would smudge on the covers, so... we felt pwoper cool 'cause we couldn't see anyone round about us with vinyl except us, 'cause we actually rock. LOLLL at the security guy trying to bump Jemma's. Anyway the table was so fucking cramped, God knows how they all managed to fit, they were practically sitting on top of one another lol(!). We were getting ushered round the table really quickly so we never exactly really got to say much x__X John looked up at me and I tried to fight the urge to laugh but.. I failed. So I was almost at the end of the table when I thought I'd try and be funny...
Me: Eh, Brian... I was wondering if you wouldn't mind signing.. *pulls top down a bit*
Brian: ...O_O *eyes light up* Oh, do you want me to sign up there?!
Me: *thinks* ...Aaaye, go on then!
Brian: *signs my chest* Quality!
Andy: THIS IS A FAMILY STORE!!! *cue everyone cracking up*
Me: Thanks a lot, byeee! *takes my vinyl etc*
And just as we turned round to leave we hear them all laughing and

LMFAO :D So Jemma + I made our way out of the shop completely dying of lolz, everyone totally staring at us yet again :P 'Cause we're that cool. XDDD
We got out of the shop and got made to sign this mailing list so we could get some badgessss which was good 'cause I'd lost all mine from last time.
Randomer: D'you want naked badges or ones with bookmarks?
It took ages to actually register what he meant by 'naked badges' lmao and I was thinking WTF. He ended up giving me bookmarked ones. Jemma got some as well. As it was only coming up 7pm we decided to loiter around and see if we could see the band 'cause well we had nothing better to do and didn't really want to go home yet :P
We then saw Amanda again and I showed her my chest which amused her to a great extent, she took this picture of it for me:
Haha. NEVER WASHING IT AGAIN. So she stood and talked to us with her friend Kirstin who had this strange... cuddly thing.. with a Dykeenies badge on it. She was going around asking everyone if they thought it was cute or scary. The majority said scary. xD
Then this random came up to us and asked why we looked so pissed off, and we were like... we're not pissed off. x_X And he asked "are you pissed off now I've turned up?" ...
Me: Maybe...
Random: :( Okay.. I'll go now..
Me: *feels bad* Oh no I was joking, I didn't MEAN to hurt your feelings (lol)
Random: Okay...
So he asked us if we wanted to go to a free gig at 13th Note, Jemma snapped at him when he tried to tell her where it was :P Lmao. His band were from London and called "Death Can Dance" apparently... lolz.. to tempt us he told us they were like "The Dykeenies on smack.."
Jemma: I don't think the Dykeenies need smack anyway!
Lmao.
So we hung about and eventually John came out and everyone was like O_O watching him 'cause he just buggered off :P Quite funny. And this wee kid was like "Hi John!" And we were all AWWWW XD
Haha so Alan and Andy both came out and were getting pictures with folk, then Steven came out and when we saw Brian we decided to go and harrass him lol.
So when we were kinda muscling in:
Brian: Hiya.

Brian: *points at chest* Looking good.
Me: Haha, I know. *asks for a photo*
Brian: Ayeee nae bother
Me: Cheers *whilst clinging onto the bloke for dear life* Oh! I've also to tell you that if you don't play Stoke on your next tour you're gonna get raped by a guy from Crewe...

I thought he was taking the piss and started laughing, but then when I realised he WASN'T

Anyway that was that and we stood about and waited for everyone else to go... there were all these really fucking annoying fangirls there asking for a photo then buggering off without talking to the poor boy or some of them not even saying thanks, it was really irritating. Some of them were actually just unbelievable though...

We were just totally taking the piss though, I mean wtf

Me: Yess! Let's get one for Facebook, and one to put in my Livejournal, and ooooo let's get one for last.fm as well!
Seriously though, what about getting a picture... y'know, just for getting a picture's sake if you get me? Not SPECIFICALLY for fucking Bebo! *shakes head*
Steven was about to leave and seemed HIGHLY amused at Brian being mobbed by all these girls and was like "See ye later Brian!" and he was well lol'ing. Amusement.
It got to the stage where every time someone asked for a photo I started laughing, and we laughed a bit too loud at one point, but Brian smiled at us anyway :P See. Loves us. Made a twunt of myself though when I decided to ask him about the patches on his jeans and whether he'd bought them like that or he'd done it himself 'cause I started stuttering really badly and was just kinda pointing at his arse, lmfao. He told us he did it himself and I'm just like "...eh...good work!" x__X LOL. Idiot. We are so doing that to all our jeans now though, 'cause that fucking rocked.

Fucking. Hilarious. WTF? Who actually mentions stuff like that, I mean if he remembers you fair enough but who's going to go up and say "HI REMEMBER ME", you just make yourself look like an idiot especially if they don't remember you lolol, brings back Babyshambles memories except this was just funnier. I can just imagine Brian was like "...." Thing is it's probably only gonna get worse 'cause I reckon they're gonna be pretty successful :|
Eventually the last of the stragglers buggered off and it was just us and Brian left.
Brian: So what are yous up to now?
We were telling him about the free gig we'd been invited to and how they supposedly sounded like the Dykeenies on smack, that they were from "London" and had "some stupid English name" and that one way to get people to come to your gigs was to steal fans from another, and we managed to make him laugh so it was all good.
Brian: I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to go, 'cause the bus is *gestures* away round the back, so...
Us: Okay, see you Thursday!
Brian: Aye, see you Thursday. Take care until then!
Us: Shall do, byeee!
Brian: See you!

So we headed down in the direction of the train station rambling about how adorable he actually is. Marriage = most certainly on the cards aye?
Jemma: Today has been so worth it just for five seconds of banter with Brian!
We spotted Calum and Lisa in McDonald's so to kill some time we went and sat with them for a while and talked to them, which was relatively amusing. I can hardly remember any of what was actually said in there now haha. Calum did tell us about how he'd seen a poster for the Gipsy Kings, which was lolz. Anyway we had some laughs in there and then decided to head off home, Calum and Lisa went for the bus and we went and got some juice and came back to the station. By this point we were all excited about Thursday, made arrangements and disappeared for our trains. Found out mine had been bloody cancelled so I had 40 minutes to wait for my next one, grr, but I didn't mind all that much 'cause well, it was worth it just for the day I'd had.
Best day I've had in quite a while. I really do love this band more than anything, ever EVER EVER. *sigh* I've probably forgotten a lot of stuff so I'll edit it in later if I have :P
PS. We saw Brian's mum! Lol (well, Andy + Alan's too obv.) They don't look anything alike :|
