Second fucking attempt. I think it's probably the most frustrating thing ever when your computer screws up after you've just typed a massive LJ entry.
Kim after I had a tantrum about my camera not working properly in the restaurant, whilst we were really really really bored and waiting for our dinner, pre-water fight.
Siobhan and my wee cousin Catherine.
...now shield your eyes, lads.
YES, THOSE ARE MY PARENTS.
Da *~~CREW~~* in the limo.
The limo.
What I wore. Heh. I bet you've never had Matt Bellamy on your bedroom floor, eh? *shuts it*
Last night I went to see The Futureheads at Glasgow ABC, hence the reason why I am so knackered today and yet again did not get to school on time. Whoops.
The trains were all screwy since it was a Sunday service, so we didn't get there till after 8pm. As we approached the venue following the long trek up Buchanan Street (where I swear I saw Amy Winehouse standing outside Borders.. alright it most likely wasn't, but it looked really bloody like her) and then up Sauchiehall Street, I spotted a familiar looking bloke standing nattering away to a group of people beside the tourbus outside the ABC, and it clicked. Barry Hyde. x) My immediate thought was "why couldn't Rob have been standing outside talking to randoms when I came to see The Automatic?" but I accepted it for what it was, and as we went in the venue I gave him a quick smile and a "Hi". Hehe. :D
Howling Bells were already playing when we got in - I was a bit gutted at missing The Enemy, I'd heard good things but nothing by them thanks to some people being too bloody miserable to upload me anything by them on filesharing communities. :) Anyway, Howling Bells were quite far into their set but I was pretty chuffed at getting to hear The Night Is Young, Velvet Girl & Low Happening, all of which were fantastic live.
I noticed this bloke standing near me who looked EXACTLY. LIKE A CERTAIN MR DOMINIC HOWARD. I swear, he was his double. Of course, I texted
hullabalo_o immediately to inform her of the good news x) He was slightly uglier, but apart from that he was identical to him - had the hair, and yes Maysie, the nose and everything. I couldn't look at him and keep a straight face, try as I might. Decided to take a picture of him with my phone for Maysie. Of course, I was less than inconspicuous and his friends spotted me and told him, and consequently I could see them taking the piss out of me. Whoops :]
There was also a Michael Tapper lookalike, and this bloke wearing an anorak stood right next to me. Hahaha.
Eventually when The Futureheads came on, I couldn't believe how serene it was. No crushing forward, everybody just stood still. Granted, there was a bit of a mosh pit right in the middle (lolz at Ross asking everyone if they were alright) but seriously, calmest gig I've ever been to.
I don't know the order of the setlist, but what they played:
From The Futureheads: A to B, Decent Days & Nights (which I went APESHIT during XDD), Meantime, The City is Here For You to Use, Carnival Kids (they finished with this one :/), He Knows, Stupid & Shallow, Hounsd of Love, Man Ray. I was so gutted we didn't get First Day.
News & Tributes: Yes/No, Cope, Fallout, Skip To The End, Return of the Berserker (I THINK), Worry About It Later, Favours for Favours.
They were absolutely fantastic live. My only two complaints - me being lame and not knowing their material well enough, and the fact the set was pretty short (it finished at 10 past 10).
Also, I was so glad I was at Jaff's side - he is rather lovely. As is Barry. Yum. The Geordie accents probably help. xD
So, set highlights;
•Barry: It's great to be back here, Glasgow... s'our hometown, isn't it Ross?
Ross: Aye, that's right, Barry's moved to Glasgow!
•Barry: ROSS MILLARD BROKE MY GUITAR!
*cue lots of booing etc*
Ross: Let's see, then..
Barry: *shows him*
Ross: Jesus Christ...
Barry: I'd only just got that as well... oh well, you owe my £600 for that, you bastard!
•Ross: *points to Jaff, exasperated* HE JUST SAID THIS SONG'S ABOUT ME!
Barry: LOLZ
*the band play Stupid & Shallow*
•Ross deciding to "play a little game" with us, lol. For Hounds of Love everyone on Ross' side had to sing his part, and everyone on Jaff's side had to sing his. Ross' side = PWNT.
•SLASH. Barry coming right over to our side and leaning back into Jaff during The City is Here For You to Use was rather lovely. Also, Barry and Ross micsharing made me squee, in a wrong, dirty kind of way. AND THEN. AS THEY WERE GOING OFFSTAGE. JAFF PATTED BARRY ON THE BACK, AND BARRY PATTED JAFF'S ARSE. JAFF WAS ALL ^____^ LMAO, IT WAS HILARIOUS.
•Realising the girl in the I Are Scientist t-shirt dancing beside me all night had been talking to me on last.fm only a couple of weeks back.
•These two girls on the other side of me asking me to take a picture of them in the middle of the gig. XD
•Jaff grinning at me and giving me thumbs up when I was jumping around like an idiot to Decent Days & Nights.
That was it. Would go see them again, except I'd learn the words better next time. x) Mwahaha. I bought a Futureheads t-shirt and a Howling Bells t-shirt, which can both be seen below. I also yoinked a Futureheads badge - THEY WERE FREE. I wanted one of The Enemy t-shirts: "If it ain't THE ENEMY, then it ain't worth a fuck." But since I didn't know whether this claim was true or not, I didn't. I wanted one of the compilation CDs they were selling as well (mainly because it had This Ain't Vegas on it) but I didn't get it either. Anyway! Pictures of my gear - I only got pictures of the gig on my phone, and they were a bit shit. Maybe I'll show you them another day. x)
I love that t-shirt.
Ignore my school shirt, I couldnt be arsed to fix it.
A couple of nights back I had a dream in which I went to see Muse two nights in a row, but it was... weird :/ I was like licking the stage where Bells had been, lol. And today my Random 1-8 EP arrived! Yayyyys.
