Fuck you car.

First pay check: Thursday

First car repair bill: today
I went in for a $30 oil change.
"did you know your radiator is busted?"

uh...no

"did you know your transmission and oil gasket are leaking?"

nope

"$400 and 3 hrs"

3 hrs later:
"by the way, your engine is vibrating because one of the pads is worn off...no extra time, but $100"
So my paycheck was a tad over $300 and I now have a $600 oil change. WTF.

catface, this will probably impact our day out next week...but hopefully all will be VERY well with my car, so I could come visit at least.

Addendum:  Thank you father for mostly bailing me out of this one ... stfu mother for wanting me to have waited and swapped cars instead of fixing the problem.

perfectly fine, darling. i do not mind hanging out at the house. we can wait another week to go find you pants. (maybe by that time, john will have money for his pants, and we can decimate two avians with a singular projectory.

see above addendum. I am out only about 200. So I may still do something or other, even if it is only for us to raid the chinese place. We should have published our monthly magazine at KNS, so work should also not be kicking my ass with last minute "ohmigod you have to get me in the paper this month!!" problems. *knock wood/pre-assembled cubicle*

sounds good. must be thursday, however, since i am expected to visit my mother on wednesday. i have various things to pick up at that house, including a number of my brother's old magic cards (which may or may not end up being sold once i've sorted them.) and some stuff from monterey, CA which mom brought back from the seal infested coast she visited with dad

Ugh... car repairs suck. I'm sowwies you got that surprise. Garages are very good at finding broken things... *mutters*

Hope job is going well tho! *hug*

I suppose it's worth asking if the garage was reputable for not finding mysterious things wrong.

Well, I doublechecked everything they were telling me via a free wireless area at a nearby restaurant, and yes, my car type does have those problems. They were also very good about explaining/show and tell, up to the point of returning the things they had taken out to their approximate area and showing me the differences (and geez, ordering me not to leave next time I came so they could educate me further on what they were doing under there).
Finally, they are on Cumberland Avenue, in a pretty tight spot to get to. I assume 1. if they fuck people over too much right on campus, word will spread, thus leading to 2. if they can stay open in that shitty corner, they must do OK by their customers in general.
