1. Who the hell am I?
My real name's Danny, I'm 22 years of age and I live up in rural North Wales. I was born and bred in this area, and I can speak Welsh fluently, a fact that seems to astonish many. For example, this is an area very popular with tourists during the summer holidays. Many will stop me to ask for directions. They could be half forgiven for thinking they'd taken a wrong turn somewhere and ended up somewhere like Berkshire. Such is the power of my accent. One even noted that I sound like one of Radio 4's newsreaders. Is that a good or bad thing?
2. What the hell do I do each day?
Well, to earn my crust, I work at an arcade for a Haven site. I'm one of the arcade's two main cashiers. Essentially, I have two duties in my job. The first is to let the guys know when there are problems with machines by simply telling them over a radio. The other is the slightly more routine task of handing out change to customers. My job does occasionally involve dealing with some prats, though in fairness, most occupations do. I enjoy working in a different environment, having done two previous stints for the shops. There were three reasons for my move - one, I fancied trying something different, two, my chances of promotion in shops were zero, and three, I was fed-up of the abuse I got whenever I refused alcohol to the latest 12-year old to come in without ID. Don't they realise I could have got a fine of £5000 and a prison sentence if I sold anyone underage alcohol?
3. Surely I'm not going to spend all my life working for Haven?
Of course not. This year, I'm hoping to be off to start my higher education. (what a bizarre term) I hope to be able to do a degree in English & Politics at the... what the? Have you fallen asleep? Wake up! I'd like to go to the Manchester Metropolitan University. I did start the same course last year at the University of the West of England in Bristol, but I left due to financial problems. My view? I regret nothing - I'm glad I got shot of the place. I would rather have studied in a sewer than at the UWE campuses. As for Bristol, I recently saw a piece in The Times describing it as "the financial powerhouse of South-West England". If that's the case, South West England has much work still to do. Of course, I realise some would be equally uncivil about Manchester. Like the entire population of the "capital of culture", (cue howls of laughter) Liverpool.
4. What the hell do I do when not at work?
Since I normally work a six-day week, (I've got to pay for driving lessons and my imminent university education somehow) I have very little spare time. However, I tend to spend it reading up the newspapers and magazines. I'll read most things, whether it be a discarded copy of the Daily Telegraph or one of my sister's celebrity magazines. I also get considerable enjoyment from surfing the Internet, like millions of others. Aside from that, I have two other main interests. Women and music. Both interests go together like butter and toast, as I've discovered. My first girlfriend taught me a bit about mixing records on vinyl. Let's just say I'll need a hell of a lot more practice before I'm in the same league as Pete Tong. I can always recommend a lot of good records to anyone interested, though. My favourite dance track of all time would be Sterling Void feat. Paris Brightledge "It's Alright", in case you're wondering.
5. Anything more to add?
Not really. If there's anything else you'd like to know, then don't hesitate to get in touch. I might add you on as a Friend, you never know. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks for reading this, wherever you are.
