Two weeks since my last post. Jack's been a busy worker bee.
Let's see...two weekends ago I went on a weekend trip back home to Ohio. My cousin Joel finally got out of the Army after 8 years, and my cousin Darrin (his brother) was home visiting from the Air Force. Since I hadn't seen my family since Christmas, it was nice to get away.
This last week was tres horrible. Nicole, the Assistant Manager at the gym, was on vacation so the rest of us had to pick up the slack, pulling hellish hours. But thankfully the weekend came and Sunday I was allowed to rest a bit. Crystal and I watched 'Million Dollar Baby' (good film btw) and then in the afternoon we checked out the North Halsted Market Days since its held in our neighborhood.
Market Days is crazy packed with mostly half naked gay men. Some of them look like men and some are dressed in drag (this one group we saw was decked out in 50s style blue, red, yellow polka dot dresses). The highlight of the day was checking out this L.A. band Powder. I've seen them 3 times now, and let me tell you...if you ever get the chance: see them. To call them a band isn't really doing them justice. They are, in all meanings of the word "an act". The lead singer is this fake femmebot of a woman, wearing wigs and platforms and skimpy outfits which change with every number. She has two or three backup dancers who look like her clones. They dance on poles (yes, I said poles!), they do acrobatics hanging over the asphalt pavement a la Cirque du Soleil. The guitarist has big spikey hair, the bassist looks like a member of Motley Crue, and there's a short dude named Tony who walks on stilts dressed in an alien costume! You would think that with all of the eye candy the band is compensating for a lack of musical talent...not so. Yes, this band has it all. They have a website, so check em out. Probably one of the greatest live acts I've seen (and I've been a bunch since I started working in 'teh music biz').
This was Crystal's first time seeing Powder, and she loved them too. And whenever you can get backstage to drink free beer and get an unobstructed view from the side of the stage, all the better (which we did via my connections).
Seacrest out.

We got it... I sent the security deposit in today, so it looks like I'll be back in good ol' Chicago in early Sept.
