LEO: If we're going to walk into walls, I want us running into them full speed. We're going to lose some of these battles, and we might even lose the White House, but we're not going to be threatened by issues. We're going to bring 'em front and center. We're going to raise the level of public debate in this country, and let that be our legacy.

i'm just bad news
My Top 100 Female TV/Movie Characters of all time (or, as of right now). Complete with quotes, but not pictures, because I have no life but I have been distracted by baseball. And this has taken me long enough to compile. If I added pictures, I'd be doing this until next Christmas.

This list was difficult on so many levels. First, I had to remember the shows/movies I needed to make SURE to include, then figure out the characters, and then find some reasonable way to order them. There was the struggle of how much to penalize characters for crappy late-season writing, how much to give preference to TV characters I see every week over fantastic movie characters. And really, once I got down towards the end, someone in the 90's could just as easily have been in the 70's. My top 10 shouldn't really surprise too many people.

Oh, and I really don't know if I could do this for male characters. How much would I drop Carter out of the top spot for post-Africa ER? How much do I penalize Sam for abandoning me for the California 47th? Doug, Mark, Josh, Toby, Charlie, Bartlet, Mulder, Martin, Jim, Booth, Seth, Ryan, Saaaandy? How do you POSSIBLY make that kind of distinction? I may as well just stick them all in a tie for first place, which kind of defeats the purpose of this exercise.

on to the list )

I am sure I have left someone really important off of this list, but I have spent the better part of two weeks trying to put this together and I can't go back now. Leaving this unlocked for awhile so that I can share it with a few important non-LJ people.

PS: I have now caught up on Bones and Friday Night Lights. Next up will be Glee, Supernatural, and Chuck. Probably in that order.
