Knock it off!

List to make shoes:
Cheap sandals with a cool heel
2 yards of thin but sturdy round elastic (Half a yard for each side of the shoe)
24-28 Upholstery tacks
Hardcore glue, I used E600. It's important to have a strong glue just in case.
Hammer/something hard
Exacto knife....or whatever to cut the shoes up
4 yards of ribbon 2 yards for each shoe (more if you want to wrap them up your legs)

I started off with a pair of wedges I bought at Payless with a heel I liked since that was all that mattered.

I cut off the tags cause I thought they looked cheap.

Cut off the sandal from the bottom.

This is what you've got.

Look at your shoe and decide where you want your first tack to go, remember that the first loop will be right behind it. I put a bit of glue inside the tack then tied a knot on the tack itself. Put a little glue right around the knot to hold it tight.

I dipped the end of the tack in glue then stuck my first tack right about where the old top started.

You should be able to just push the tacks in but when you hammer them in the last little way use something soft over the tack to defuse the blow.

Place in your next tack, I found it easier to just play around with the placement to get it all right before you glue them in place. I placed mine about 1 inch apart. Most people will want 5 loops I have 6 loops cause I wear a size 10 :P

Once you've decided your placement take out the next tack, put a bit of glue on the inside and dip the end. Put it back in place and push it almost all the way in. Wrap the elastic around the tack and push it the rest of the way in.

Wrap under the tack like so...

Wrap it tight but not too tight. You want to be able to easily change ribbons.

Keep repeating until you get to your last one.

On the last one do the same thing as the first. Put glue inside the tack dip the end in the glue and set it in place. With the elastic make a loose knot and place it over the last tack then pull it really tight. Snip the end and put glue around the knot and tap it into place.

Congratulations. You have just added 1,000,000 shoes to your wardrobe!!!!

Now have fun trying out new styles, ribbons, beads, buttons, trims......anything you can tie!
