baltimore: redux

Yesterday, Chelsea, Bundy, Katie, and I went to Baltimore. It was a day trip that we had been planning since the beginning of last week, and we all miraculously managed to get off to go. Katie came and picked me up around 11:30. We went to Acme, so I could cash some change, being I'm completely broke and nearly $300 in debt. I surprisingly came out with about $17.

We got to Chelsea's around 12:15, and left after a few minutes. Chelsea's music was pretty boring, in my opinion, and since she only had a CD player, there was no way to hook up my iPod to her car. I suggested that we drop by my house to pick up some CDs, which we did. The drive down was pretty quick, and we parked in a garage near the one we were in last week. It was around 2:30 at this point, and I said we should go to the Aquarium. Everyone agreed, including Bundy (reluctantly), so we headed in that direction. However, the earliest time we could've gotten in would've been 6:00, so we decided to skip the Aquarium. Instead, we went into Barnes and Noble. I picked up a copy of Budget Traveler, which I will probably be subscribing to soon.

After spending a decent amount of time in Barnes and Noble, we headed over to the light-rail. At first, we were going to go to Fells Point, but it turned out that the Water Taxi was a bit more expensive than we had thought, and Fells Point was really only a bunch of restaurants, anyway. We decided to go to Lexington Market, on my recommendation, instead. However, I had a few misconceptions about Lexington Market at the time, namely, that Lexington Market was the biggest open-air market in the state! and that it had something other than raw fish and pig's feet. Amazingly, after everyone had paid for their ticket but me, the machine screwed up and I got free fare. =D

The train came after 10 minutes, but we missed our stop and had to walk back to Lexington Market. We were the only white people around for a few blocks, and kept getting stares. Before crossing the street to the market, we encountered two very interesting things. One was a doomsday man sitting on the corner, reciting something from a religious text that he knew by heart. It was so cliché. Then, while we were standing there, Chelsea laughed at this black woman's dog, because it looked like a rat. The woman looked at her and said, "You better not be laughing at my dog." I thought, Oh shit, this woman is going to fucking kill Chelsea. This woman kept saying, "You better not be laughing at my dog." Chelsea tried to explain herself, but it turned out that the woman wasn't angry--she had thought it was funny. Jesus.

We walked around the market for awhile, which was simply an indoor food market. Then we walked all the way back to Camden Yards. However, it was only a few blocks away, which led me to wonder why we had bought rail tickets in the first place. I didn't care though, since I got free fare!

On the way back to the garage, I said we should stop and look around the hotel. We did so, but it wasn't very exciting, and there were no windows in the hallway on the top floor; they were all in the rooms. This creepy guy kept smiling at us in the elevator.

Back in the garage, I said we should go to Towson. Unfortunately, I got us lost on the way out of the city to Towson and Chelsea forced me to take her back to 95, which took longer than it should have since we were in the heart of the city at that point. The ride home took a bit longer than the ride down, since we got off before the toll. In Havre de Grace, we stopped in Bomboy's. I still think they're better than Kilby Cream.

Chelsea's dad seems really cool.

Oh yeah, I have a cell phone now, too! Post or IM me if you want the number.

Hahaha, you went to Lexington Market. :)

That's just funny in and of itself, especially when you said what you thought it was. The food in there's pretty good, actually.

And I would have lived in Barnes & Noble.

B-More

Dude I love the city, I'm definitly going to live there for some period of time when I'm older. Everytime I go up there for a game I want to make a day trip out of it, there is so much to do.

If you want some good shots to use your fisheye on, walk from the WTC to the Board of Ed building, you wouldn't believe the architecture you could use that with.
