For the past few weeks, Pastor Abbott has been preaching on Micah 6:8. Micah 6:8 is one of those verses that you hear a lot if you grow up in the church.
"He has shown you, oh man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? But to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God."
Or something like that. I didn't look it up.
Anyhow, there's been a lot of focus on the doing of justice lately at church. I'm very pleased by this. I think social justice is a topic that gets ignored in most churches in favor of evangelism. Which is incredibly sad because social justice is a much more important topic, I think. Pastor Abbott said something about how if you judge importance by volume, the care of the poor is the second most important topic in the Bible.
I'm afraid I have nothing more substantial to say about the subject. All of my eloquence seems to have fled. Sorry.
...still need a generic 'faith' icon for these sorts of posts.
