The question of the moment is: Do I have time to make a mix CD before I need to leave for the airport?

Hmm...

And with that, I'm off! I'll be in Arizona for the next few days. I may have teh internets, or I may not. The laptop is coming with anyway (mostly for homework purposes...boo.), so we'll see.

For the past few weeks, Pastor Abbott has been preaching on Micah 6:8. Micah 6:8 is one of those verses that you hear a lot if you grow up in the church.

"He has shown you, oh man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? But to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God."

Or something like that. I didn't look it up.

Anyhow, there's been a lot of focus on the doing of justice lately at church. I'm very pleased by this. I think social justice is a topic that gets ignored in most churches in favor of evangelism. Which is incredibly sad because social justice is a much more important topic, I think. Pastor Abbott said something about how if you judge importance by volume, the care of the poor is the second most important topic in the Bible.

I'm afraid I have nothing more substantial to say about the subject. All of my eloquence seems to have fled. Sorry.

...still need a generic 'faith' icon for these sorts of posts.

I just got a postcard from my parents of Niagara Falls. This is simultaneously adorable and a little sad.

Adorable because...my parents at Niagara Falls.

Sad because it feels like my mom is trying to revive my grandma's postcard tradition. My grandma used to travel with this thing called Elder Hostel. It was for seniors, and they'd travel to cool places and see the local wildlife. She went to China, Kenya, Edinburgh, Baffin Island, all sorts of other places I can't remember. And she'd always send each of us a postcard. Usually from the zoo wherever she was.

Anyhow, that's what I thought when I got the postcard. Cue melancholy nostalgia.

Sanctuary for All
I had assumed that the pilot for Sanctuary would just be the first few webisodes strung together, but apparently it's not. I'm not complaining. There's more Kavan in this one. (Stubble, shoulder holster and strangely appealing pink lips...) But so far no David Hewlett, which is sad. It makes me want to see about getting the rest of the webisodes sometime.

Also? For as much as I love Halling, Christopher Heyerdahl makes a brilliant creepy guy.

Sadly, I don't think Kavan will be in any more episodes.

Happy Reunification Day!

I really should have done one of these weeks ago, when I actually finished Hellblazer: Original Sins, but I was sure I'd be able to finish The Kindly Ones in the next couple of days.

Apparently, I was wrong.

Anyhow, those are my next two. Hellblazer is almost my first Constantine. There is, of course, Constantine in Preludes and Nocturnes, and in The Books of Magic, but it was my first graphic novel entirely devoted to him. I was impressed. Annoyed at the cliffhanger-ishness of the ending, but I liked it. A lot. Which accounts for the fact that I then bought the next couple in the series.

And I think Kindly Ones is probably the creepiest of the Sandman novels.

And I can't be more eloquent than that at the moment, I'm afraid. Sorry.

This morning I had a dream in which my mother gave me Lucky Charms in chicken broth.

And I also had two tiny kittens and a duckling. They were awfully cute together.

I'm considering going out for breakfast, which means I'll need to bring a book with me. Only, I'm in the middle of a graphic novel right now, and I feel weird reading it in public. I shouldn't. I know. But I do.

Of course, I'm also in the middle of a Lawhead book, so maybe I'll bring both and see how I feel when I get there.

(And then there's the bit where I hate going to restaurants alone...)

Also? I'm not okay with three nights in a row where I can't get to sleep.

Yeah, I think I do actually like coffee.

With lots of sugar.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have any more effect on me than other forms of caffeine.

Anybody out there been thinking of trying Netflix, but you haven't gotten around to it yet? 'Cause I've got all these free month trial cards to give out, but no one to give them to. (Plus, I get a bonus disc for every one that gets used...)

Thoughts on The Way We Were...
Barbra Streisand's hands freak me right out. Her fingers are so long and skinny, and those nails just...*shudders*

The whole thing's kind of one long, quiet tumble towards disaster, isn't it?

ETA: Oh, and no SGA next week, but y'all should totally watch Sanctuary. Did I mention Kavan's in the pilot. He is. So is Chuck. And David Hewlett...

Apparently the preferred food while watching the Presidential debates is pizza.

On the plus side, really good tips tonight. And I got off just in time to come home for Atlantis, which starts in...8 minutes and counting. (I really hope there's Lorne tonight. There really needs to be Lorne.)

Because you can't not quote it...
"There's only one reason Christian girls go to the Planned Parenthood."

"She's planting a pipe bomb?"

"Okay, two reasons."

...

Or

...

"I just keep trying to remind myself that when Jesus closes a door, he opens a window."

"Yeah, so we can have something to jump out of."

...

Or

...

"I crashed my van into Jesus! I have a pimple the size of Jupiter! I am not okay!"
