Titan Warriors
RAAAAARGH I'M A SKULL

Lost Levels has been secretly featuring new unreleased games on its forums for the last few weeks, but this latest one is special, I think. It's Titan Warriors, a Capcom-developed NES upgrade to their first arcade game, Vulgus. It wasn't ever released anywhere in the world, and now it's out there for just any old jerk to play.

The best part is how totally Capcom this game is. Everything about it just screams late-'80s-era Capcom, especially the soundtrack, which was composed by the same person who did the music for the NES versions of Bionic Commando, Strider, and Mega Man 3. It's really great stuff, and it's pretty amazing that nobody even knew this thing was ever in development until just a few months ago. Go see!

That's quite the pedigree on the soundtrack. I may have to check this out.

I was definatly in the mood for a good game, and I was really impressed with this one, a shame it wasn't released...i'm kinda wondering if capcom got a look at konami's "new" shooter crisis force and that had something to do with why it was shelfed? I think they were from around the same time ;-)

and the second loop through the game is kicking my ass, when i get home from work i"ll post a few save states on the ll forums.

Not quite. Titan Warriors' copyright is from 1988 according to the title screen. (Which you can only see after a game over oddly enough.) Crisis Force came out in 1991. Still the final boss in Titan Warriors resembles Giga from Life Force a lot.

If this game managed to slip under the radar for so many years, maybe Capcom really did have a proto of Nes Black Tiger that was further along than that one screen shot on the net. Keep the dream alive.

It's not bad... seems to use a similar sub-weapon system to ASO II.
No Auto Rensha FTL.

Sardius.. please tell me that you have played Summer Carnival 92' Recca.

I have! Great game (if kind of hard), and actually really impressive for the hardware. I should play it more sometime.

It is pretty buggy, but WHO CARES NES VERTICAL SHOOTER W/ RAD MUSIC

It is definitely on my "to put on a real cart someday" list.
