mystifying ebgames.com descriptions of the week
- Elements of Destruction

A game where you run around chasing tornadoes? That's boring. A game where you are the tornado? That's a blockbuster! The world is yours to control and destroy using forces of nature of your choosing. This made-for-DS game brings originality of game play and makes maximum use of the DS controls for a whacky twist on the weather. Who wants to be a Cooking Mama when you can be Mother Nature??

Yeah, it's about time someone took that bitch Cooking Mama down a peg! And what better game to do it than one that -- much like Cooking Mama -- revolves around creating natural disasters, as opposed to all those non-whacky DS games where you just run around chasing tornadoes all the time. That's boring!

- CSI Miami Nights

Live the delightful or spiteful life you have always wanted in this groundbreaking social simulation game. Create a new you in the colorful backdrop of Miami, where your ultimate goal is to become a rich and famous model, singer or actor.

I refuse to believe that this is a mistake, because there's nothing I want to see more than a dating sim for the DS based on CSI Miami. Also, this sounds like a game for assholes.

- Rig Racer 2

Ever fancied driving a rig? How about speeding around a track in one? Well now you can experience the thrill in Rig Racer 2! Get prepared for the toughest race experience on the Wii. Keep on truckin'...

Here's a game for someone with very reasonable aspirations. "Ever wanted to shop for a toilet at Home Depot? How about speeding around the store in one of those carts that the employees use?"

So where's Rig Racer 1? Wait, they can't mean...oh god

Whoa.

WHOA.

I'll see your Big Rig 2 and raise you a Cruis'n, a Mini Desktop Racing, and an Offroad Extreme Special Edition.

The Wii's getting some amazing racing games lately.

I'll admit Mini Desktop Racing looks kinda fun. Cruis'n... Well I guess it was trying too hard to emulate the originals on N64. (At least it didn't try and reinvent itself like the new RUSH game did.) And Offroad Extreme: SE? ... I doubt they tried tracking down Ironman Ivan Stewart for an endorsement, but I don't think he'd grant it anyway.

The Wii's perfectly capable of a decent racer though, just look at NFS: Carbon. But then I love that whole import cars scene, so that's just my opinion.

Wow, in that Cruis'n clip, the sound effect for driving on water sounds like they just recorded turning on a faucet.

NITROUS!!!

My favorite "feature" of Cruis'n is the announcer's edgy NITROUSSS remark with scrolling text every single time you use a nitro boost.

I'm sure that never gets old!

My favorite part of this comic is when he takes off his sunglasses, there's another pair behind them.

he's actually about to put a pair of sunglasses on over the sunglasses he's already wearing.

I think.

I think I interviewed the Elements of Destruction guys during my trip to the UK. Really nice guys. That's a terrible adline, though.

As Livejournal's Number One CSI: Miami fan, I can assure you that I would play the fuck out of a game in which you (the player) get dates for Horatio. Heck, since I don't even own one of those double-screen gameboy-things, I'd sell some of my belongings in order to buy one just so I could play a CSI: Miami-related dating game.

I would not however, touch a CSI or a CSI: NY-related game (dating or otherwise) with a ten foot pole.

I would love to play a game in which you make a character and have them become a superstar, only so they can get murdered and you have to solve the crime.

Racing rigs is pretty much the worst idea in gaming ever.

I can see how somebody might have thought "Dude, racing rigs on a track would be TOTALLY SWEET" when they played 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker while extraordinarily drunk. When that person suggested it to a design team, however, they should have been rewarded with a pink slip and complimentary one-way security escort.

I've played a lot of games that should never be played by human beings, but Super Trucks Racing for PS2 is by far one of the absolute worst. Not because of the graphics, the framerate, or anything like that... but because the controls are so realistic incredibly rigid that you cannot bear to play it more than five minutes. You'd have approximately a million times more fun just playing, say, Project Gotham Racing and imagining that you're driving a Mack instead of a Porsche.

Elements of Destruction? Could be fun, could be creepy as hell. People are of no value, we can make more sometime...if we need them.
