I haven't written in this journal since last year (when I was in the Philippines!) It's somewhat unbelievable on multiple levels.
First of all, that all that time has passed when it really hasn't been that long.
Second of all, that I haven't laid down my thoughts / vents / random ramblings in that long.
Third of all, I was skimming through past entries and I've had this journal since 2003???
Tomorrow is my college commencement from UCLA. That's also unbelievable on multiple levels. This is what I've been working towards the past four years. The next time I get this excited / flustered about things, it's either going to be my commencement from graduate school (if that happens) or my wedding day (if that happens).
Commencement is tomorrow. I can still remember high school graduation like it was yesterday. I mean, I know everyone says that (well, do they?) but really, I do. I remember marching through the double doors outside of Ms. Potts' classroom, touching Odin's Hammer and walking under the Rainbow Bridge. I even remember grad night afterwards at Knott's Berry Farm.
I feel like I have been a big failure at keeping in touch with those who I would really like to keep in touch with. It's not because I ever stopped caring about you...I still often think of our random adventures and amazing nights spent just hanging out and enjoying each other's company. I know we've all just been busy with our own lives, but I hope that everything gets resettled in the upcoming near future. I do miss y'all.
I'm also still slightly buzzed from the 2 Buck Chuck that I consumed at dinner so I apologize for my rambling.
I hope to be back more often, journal.

So after 26 hours of traveling here I am in the Philippines. And the traveling didn’t stop there. After we got to Manila I was informed that early the next morning we’d have to go back to the airport to catch a flight to Cebu. We spent a day sightseeing in Cebu – we saw the original spot where Magellan claimed the island for Spain – and stayed at a place called Tambuli Resort. We even went to a guitar factory. Cheryl and I didn’t leave empty handed. :]
The next day we took a ferry, or “Super Cat” to Tagbilaran, Panglao Island. We’ve been at Alona Kew White Beach Resort for two days. Tomorrow we fly back to Manila for a day then we’re going to somewhere called Bicol. Hopefully I’ll get to update about that later.
I am really excited that both Cheryl and I are at an age where we’ll actually remember all this. Yesterday Cheryl and I walked down the white sand beach with beers in hand (San Miguel Light tastes just like Corona Light…) and had a barbecue family dinner on the sand. Today we took a countryside tour and visited Chocolate Hills, a collection of 1,268 naturally almost completely symmetrical hills, played with Tarsiers (huge eyed primate-type animals) and Flying Lemurs, had lunch on a river boat and watched a traditional Filipino dance performance, and visited the oldest church in the Philippines.
This is turning out to be way better than I was expecting. Initially when we got to our uncle’s house we were jet lagged, exhausted, and felt bombarded by questions from family. I broke out in hives (as usual) from the weather and took a cold bath at 2 in the morning Philippine time because I woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep. But pretty much everything went uphill from there…we’ll see what tomorrow brings. :]
Hope everyone is doing well in the United States. I feel so left out from what’s going on in the world…hahaha.

My family is currently resort hopping around the islands until we go back to the mainland. I wish I could post pictures but I'm only at this internet cafe for a short while.
I miss y'all and hope you are having a fun Winter!

I keep wanting to update but forgetting what I want to write about.
So I got a new job, and it starts tomorrow. I am one of the new UCLA Orientation Coordinators. :} It's 5-10 hours a week during the Fall Quarter and 20 hours per week during Winter and Spring Quarters. During the summer it's 40+ hours a week.
I know I know... I never even mentioned that I was applying for a new job. Applications always make me so nervous so I never tell ANYONE that I'm even applying for anything. I guess I was pretty sneaky as I actually got some people to talk to me about the other candidates without them knowing that they were actually talking to a candidate for the position.
There were three total spots open and as it turns out, two of my best friends that I've made here at UCLA got the other two spots.
In the end, the interview was probably one of the most fun interviews I've ever had...even though it took place 30 minutes before I was supposed to meet with my Professor and I ended up running across campus in my "nice" flats wearing all black when it was 80 degrees out. Lunch in the faculty center was nice though. IT WAS SO FANCY!!! I'm going back in about two weeks to meet with a larger group of professors and department heads. Eep!
On a random note...Happy Veterans Day. It was a relaxing 5 day weekend. On Saturday I got kidnapped for a retreat with the Pre Student Affairs Professionals Society. I was told we were going to a "roach motel somewhere in LA." We hopped on the 405 and kept going down south until we got to Newport Beach. I don't know how we can afford it but we ended up staying at a really nice vacation resort by the beach where we proceeded to do lots of..."work." :]
Since we were so close to Huntington Beach and Corey had gone home for the weekend, on Sunday, Corey offered to pick me up from Newport Beach and somehow we ended up at Disneyland with his best friend Chris and my sister Cheryl who both go to UC Irvine. It was Bat Day so there were tons of people dressed up in goth fashion. Random.
I don't know why but I keep blanking on what I did yesterday. I probably should have done homework...
Today Corey and I went down to 3rd Street Promenade and at the end of the day he surprised me by taking me out to dinner at Benihana's. I don't know how he pulled it off without me figuring it out since afterwards I realized that all day he had been making random excuses without me questioning anything.
Wait...I just realized that I don't think I've mentioned anything about Corey before. I guess I should fill you in by saying he's my boyfriend. Hehehe. :]
-----
To Corey C. (a different Corey...the original UCLA Corey!)-
Look what you did by unofficially "recruiting" me to come to UCLA. And then planting the seed of Orientation in my mind. (Weren't you an RA too???) If all goes wrong this summer with me as Coord, I'm blaming it all on you. ;]

I hate being sick.
I haven't stepped foot outside of my dorm room today. I slept in until about 11. Corey was already up watching football so I watched football with him until I fell asleep again. Eventually I woke up to have a cup of noodles even though I couldn't taste anything.
I'll probably go back to bed even though I have TONS of reading to do.
I haven't actually updated in a long time. I keep wanting to write in my journal but when it comes down to it, I always forget what I want to write about.
Hopefully that changes.
Until then, good night?

Random points of the week:
-I need to get a new ID. I feel like whenever I get carded, the person looking at my driver's license is debating whether or not to confiscate it. It really doesn't look like me. In fact, it looks more like my sister Cheryl.
-I love being 21.
-I'm tired from this constant 9 AM til 10 PM training that's been going on since last Thursday, and it'll go on until next Wednesday.
-I've been going for 2 years straight without a break. The idea of taking a year off after my undergraduate career is getting to be more and more appealing...even though I don't know what I'm going to do during that year off.
-I've realized that I actually enjoy running, however my back is now killing me.
-I don't know why but when I came into college I didn't think I'd make any close friends here. Three years later, I don't know what I was thinking.
-When the fish start biting, they all start biting.
-I really admire my mother.
-I worry too easily.

Vegas vacation = win.
I definitely got to hang out in the Bellagio penthouse suite with 6 guys...and I loved it. Guys are so much less drama than girls.
Walking down the strip absolutely belligerent, with drink in hand, was awesome.
And now...I cannot wait until next Friday.
3 more sessions until the end. I still don't know whether I should feel happy or sad.

Cheryl, Katie, and Sarah are coming up later tonight. Hopefully the BFF makes it also.
I'm still praying for you.
