Most all of us have a special friend in our lives of the animal variety.
And if you are like most folks I know, you probably have a soft spot in your heart for all animals.
Like myself, you'll find the following story one of those feel good moments. This is the story about George the cat and Maggie the lady who saved him.
A week or so ago a young woman came to Maggie's telling her about the cat she had that had got in a fight and had become quite ill. She told Maggie that the cat had two fractures, several puncture wounds and bites, and what they thought was gangrene in it's paw. The young lady said that since George was so very sick, after the cat had ran out of food, they decided to stop feeding it to help him so he would die quicker. After sharing this story with Maggie, Maggie felt morally obligated to make sure George received medical help as to ease his suffering.
Here is a link to the rest of George's story. Maggie has pictures and ongoing medical information as to follow along. George is a beautiful poly-dactyl cat you will fall in love with.
http://community.livejournal.com/villagewitches/25515.htmlA friend shares with me that Maggie has taken so many cats in from her neighborhood during their time of need, that cats bring other feral cats to her front door. Maggie does as much as she can to get all feral and/or abandoned cats that come her way, fixed, their vaccinations, and any medical care they might need. What's more, she's been doing it for years.
We've all seen those pets abandoned on the side of the road, or saw a feral animal we wish there was something we could do for it, and in those moments, you close your eyes and pray for sweet mercy from the powers that be, on it's behalf. Maggie is that very prayer answered for many of the animal kingdom/pet population in her neighborhood. She certainly is where George is concerned.
Please join us in support of Maggie's Great Work. Please do so on behalf of George and all the feral and abandoned animals who find tender mercy at her door.

George's veterinary cost's were about $400.
Macavity's were over $1000.
And Inara, who she doesn't mention at all, were probably in the $200-300 range, between getting her shots, examined and fixed, plus her two kittens Eko & Cleopatra, who she's also getting vaccinnated and fixed and ready for adoption.
All of which happened in the past six weeks.
What Maggie needs right now more than anything are A) a little bit of financial help. Everyone is well aware the economy is tight and if you can contribute even $5 that's fantastic. Others will do the same; we've all seen this work on LJ.
She also desperately needs someone to step up and adopt George or agree to foster him while she actively helps find a permanent home for him. Because he's FELV+ in a house with FELV- cats, he has to be caged, and he thinks of Maggie as his gaoler. He also is kind of out of sorts (I mean, you do a day in the life of George, who was more or less happily doot-de-dooting along minding his own business as the alpha male, get grabbed and dragged off to some strange person's house who shoves you into a cage, takes you off to some strange nasty place where they poke your sore foot, stick you with needles, wash you, spray nasty smelling stuff on you and chop off your balls, and then get shoved back in the cage in a house where you are no longer the alpha male. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED IN 18 HOURS TO THIS POOR BABY. It's no wonder he doesn't like Maggie!)
He's sweet, if feeling a little cramped.
If you can spare a few bucks or know someone who can, she's got a PayPal link to the Village Witches page.
If you know anyone willing to adopt or foster a sweet, medium-hair polydactyl FELV+ cat, or know of any resources where she could find such a home for him, she's also all ears for that.
Thanks for helping.
