fem⋅i⋅nism   /ˈfɛməˌnɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [fem-uh-niz-uhm] –noun

1. the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

the ignorance surrounding the concept and definition of feminism both astound and disappoint me.

Tonight was awesome. Everything was fun. Happy Birthday Ally, I should owe you money for gas.

Only bummer is one of the most clever jokes of all time not being deployed.

Last night a bum asked me for my autograph, and then asked for change for a five. So, I gave him five singles and he gave me back two dollars.

Basically, I paid for him to ask me.

ooo, so today i bought some glasses [to use the frames], a sweet jays jackets AND a michael jordan jersey!
all for $20! i love value village... my best fashion scores have come from there. it's the perfect size, as in fitted. my shaq jersey is like, big but it works. this is a childs jersey, so it fits like a teeshirt. i'ma wear it with a skirt. SO HAWTS.

frigballs.
i am like, tired of being in this house. I WANT MY TWO STOREY NYC WALKUP ALREADY.
sometimes i contemplate the idea of staying in st. catharines, and getting my own crib. i would be able to buy stuff and live a semi-good life. i would most likely live with rory, and we'd get a dog. i would go to nyc every two months, for SURE to see my bestie. i would get rid of my car and get a new one next summer. i would be here for my sister and my daddy. i would also probably rent a chair at a salon a few days a week. it would be cool and everything... but not exactly what i want my life to be.

no matter how many times life beats the shit out of me, i still get up and push on with my dreams of fairytales and wonder and magic and all that shit. adventures here are all used up, i've done all the things i can do for now. onto new things!

i've stopped working out because i simply have NO TIME! i've not really gained any weight... but my bod is def not the same. but i love it! i feel like a little pudgster, and am taking full advantage of it! for example, today i ate ice cream... not with a spoon, but with oreos. AND I AM SO MUCH HAPPIER BECAUSE OF IT. why not use food as a vessel for other foods? genius. and gluttonous. but in two months i won't be able to afford the treat of oreos or icecream, so i'ma soak that shit up.

tree braid care? [13 Jul 2009|08:29pm]

I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks *Does happy dance* and I'm thinking of getting tree braids. How do you take care of them/wash them/keep the hair from going crazy? I'll probably use human hair depending on what the hair dresser advises.

Any tips?

Thanks!

I live in the deserts of Arizona and it gets hellishly hot here our high today is 113. Should i be using something in my hair to keep it from being sun dried? Is there even such a thing? I am trying learn about hair & Currently the only products i put in my hair is http://www.cosmeticsolutions.biz/servlet/the-5378/Africa%27s-Best-Herbal-Gro/Detail & this http://store.goldenmartbeautysupply.com/afbeoroloilm.html I honestly don't even really know what i should be putting in my hair on a daily basis or at all really. I wander the store "hairland" in confusion of what i should buy & the asian guy behind the counter is no help at all. My hair is bleached once a year so i can dye it reds or blues & yes i know bleaching is bad but paying $350 every 6 weeks for a color weave is just not happening. So any advice would be so gratefully appreciated.

Tonight was fairly eventful.
I got off work ridiculously early, hung out with Brandon, Chris and Delaney for a few hours, Chris and Delaney left. Me and Brandon took his van, went skateboarding for a bit, got some pizza, then went to hangout at Ryan's. Talked a lot about mopeds, laughed at fingers, then I went home.
I read an entire book, 'Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters' by J.D Salinger. It was only 125 pages, but whatever. It was good, but a tiny bit depressing, but happy at the same time? I don't know.

This entry was unnecessarily long.

Edit: After realizing that the character mentioned in that book is the main character of 'A Perfect Day For Banana Fish', it's terribly depressing.

I tried to fix my sleep schedule last night by going to bed around midnight, but then I woke up at five. That would be fine, but I have to work till close, which is 2am, so I will probably have to nap to stay awake.

Have any of you heard of ceXpress or used any of their products?
I was contemplating on the soy straightening system but I'm nervous about using new products such as these ones. But I have "nappy" hair that has a nice curl pattern when wet then after that it's all bad. I don't want to end up with some dry lookin jheri curl especially since I wear my hair pressed anyways.
Any & all info about this company is appreciated!

Creating Volume [10 Jul 2009|09:57pm]

black_hair_etc

[cosmiceyes]
Hi everyone!  How's it going?  Well, I guess I'll get straight to it.  My relaxed shoulder-length hair is a little bit on the thin side and sometimes I have some trouble creating volume.  But I've fallen totally in love with this haircut:

I just wonder is there a way that a stylist could create volume in my hair?  Every time I get my hair done and I talk to the stylists and stress that I want all over volume instead of that hump with a wrap (you guys know what I'm talking about, right?) they get kind of confused.  This hairstyle seems to be more suited for Caucasian or Asian hair.  Should I maybe try a Caucasian stylist?  What is a good way to describe what I want?  I don't know if it's their personal skill level or not really having experience with these kinds of styles but black stylists never seem to quite get it even though I bring in pictures.

Just in case you want to see my hair... )
