Just wanted to say sorry for missing some challenges. My internet router broke last Tuesday and I only just got a new one so I missed the deadline for some of the challenges - and my own personal challenge was to compete in every one dammit lol! But I'm back now and all the ones I can make from now I will do :D

Dad
( by Judy Burnette )

Dad...so many images come to mind
whenever I speak your name;
It seems without you in my life
things will never be the same.

What happened to those lazy days
when I was just a child;
When my life was consumed in you
in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times
when I always looked to you;
No matter what happened in my life
you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning...it seems
the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased.

For my Dad; December 1944 - March 2008

Do any of you lovely people have the version of Champagne Supernova used in The OC that you can upload to sendspace for me?
I adore this photo:

I actually have a waist.

Edit: I accidentally posted a Lilia icon - then I definitely would have a waist!

In 2007, paper_princess_ resolves to...
Spend less time on august.
Apply for a new affection.
Pay for my shared secrets on time.
Be nicer to unadu1terated.
Become a better naley.
Lose ten brucas by March.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Applying for a new affection actually sounds like something I want to do in 2007.

Kaylz it appears I haven't been nice enough to you - I apologise ;)

If anything I'd rather spend more time on August and less on January if that can be arranged!
2nd-Sep-2006 06:48 pm - Happy Birthday to moi!
Have had a fabby birthday so far, had a lovely lie in this morning after my first week of full time work(don't think I've mentioned it on here but I'm working as a paralegal at a law firm in Sheffield) and then got up to a gorgeous birthday breakfast prepared by my mum and opened all my cards and presents which so far have included:

-A Prada perfume gift set with lots of goodies in it
-A new MP3 player
-Benefit make-up
-DVD's - Walk The Line, Dawson's Creek Season 6, Bride and Prejudice and Two Pints of
Lager and a Packet of Crisps Series 5.
-Christina Aguliera Album
-Earrings
-Books
-New shoes
-Dior make-up
-Books
-2 new tops and a skirt from Topshop
-Marks and Spencer vouchers (this relative clearly doesn't realise I'm only 23 lmao, so far the only thing I've managed to come up with that I might be able to use them for is to buy my lunch every day when I'm working lol)
-Plus lots of money which I plan to use to buy a new bag when I find one I like, season 6 of Gilmore Girls, Season 3 of One Tree Hill and tickets to the Guys and Dolls tour amongst other things.

After presentness I got ready and went for some retail therapy with ma mere and we had a gorgeous lunch at Mamma Amalfi, a very cool Italian - for dessert I had this amazing chocolate cake layered with mousse, chocolate sauce and squirty cream which was to die for. It did totally break the diet but hey if you can't indulge on your birthday when can you?

Now I'm just chilling for a while and watching X factor before going out for birthday cocktails.

Go to Wikipedia and look up your birth day (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and one death in your journal, including the year.

2 September is the anniversary of:

1666 - The Great Fire of London breaks out and burns for three days, destroying 10,000 buildings including St. Paul's Cathedral.

1752 - The United Kingdom adopts the Gregorian Calendar, nearly two centuries later than most of Western Europe.

1944 - Holocaust: Diarist Anne Frank and her family are placed on the last transport train from Westerbork to Auschwitz, arriving three days later.

1945 - World War II ends: The final official surrender of Japan is accepted aboard the battleship USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

1969 - The first automatic teller machine in the United States is installed in Rockville Center, New York.

(Ok so that was more than 3 but some quite cool things happened!)

Born on 2 September:

1853 - Wilhelm Ostwald, German chemist, Nobel Prize laureate (d. 1932)

1952 - Jimmy Connors, American tennis player

1961 - Carlos Valderrama, Colombian footballer

1964 - Keanu Reeves, American actor

1965 - Lennox Lewis, Canadian-British boxer

1966 - Salma Hayek, Mexican actress

Died on 2 September:

1973 - J. R. R. Tolkien, British writer (b. 1892)
