premiership
WBA were not going to let Sir Alex leave without making it a game to remember, 5-5!! and for the first and last time - Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson failed to win after having a 3 goal lead.
Wigan's defeat to Arsenal in midweek meant that there was only one thing left to decide- who would finish in Champions league spots (either automatic or via qualification). Arsenal just had to win and they did it... Spurs had to win to keep any hope and they did but it wasn't to be...
Anyway, as its the end of the season, how about a summary poll!
Poll #1914314 Season summary
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 14
Manager of the Season
Sir Alex Ferguson - another title, and by some margin - made smart shopping in summer
Andre Villas Boas - gave Chelsea and Arsenal a run for their money and I'm not sure everyone thought he would
Moyes - well... got the job he wanted
Brendan Rogers - I'm not sure what where the expectations but I think he's done a good job for 1st season
Steve Clark - WBA, 8th - isn't that a record for them?
Michael Laudrop - the Carling Cup and 9th (this is why Martinez isn't here)
Other - please provide detail in comments
Disappointing Manager of the Season
Roberto Mancini - that was no title defence
Alan Pardew - I seem to recall he also had a weak 2nd season with West Ham and he was then sacked
Harry Redknapp - no magic worked this time
Martin O'neill - we expected better from him
Other - please provide detail in comments
Purchase of the season
Van Persie - title winning goals
Sturridge - giving much needed firepower to Liverpool (especially as Suarez wasn't around all season)
Michu - gave Swansea their platform for success at the start of the season
Benteke - the reason Villa stayed up
Other - please provide detail in comments
See you all on August 18th for a season that promises to be interesting... Uncharted territory for Man UTD and Everton fans, The return of the Special one to Chelsea and more.

Title: I Think
Author: AotA
Rating: T
Characters: Jazz, Prowl, Optimus, Ironhide
Summary: The AI that developed into the entity that called himself Jazz was created to grow and adapt to fulfill a purpose that was as broad as it was deceptively simple. Jazz grew and adapted, but he did that so well that he became something... more.
Notes: There is some sort of irony that the prequel to TIA is a oneshot that is longer than the three chapters of the original ficlet.

The very best of retirement to Sir Alex Ferguson (though I'm sure we've not seen the last of him, even if he won't manage again).
and best of luck to David Moyes... it's been emotional!
I still haven't made up my mind who I would like to see in the managers role next year in Everton... whoever it is, they will have a challenge. The talent of Moyes was to get the most out of a team on limited resources, and he did that well. So whoever gets the role will need to face the fact that there ain't much cash to play with. There is talk about Martinez, but I'm not quite sure... yes, he's just won the FA cup, but then Wigan has been fighting relegation every year now for like 3 years and they're most likely to drop this year. Who else is there? Martin O'neil I guess could be a good choice... don't know... I honestly can't imagine right who would take the post. It won't be easy.
Back to the League.
Wigan must beat Arsenal to survive, a draw is not good enough as their goal difference is awful.
Wigan must beat Arsenal to give Spurs hope. If Arsenal win they are back at 4th, a draw is not good enough for Arsenal either... as they will be 1 point behind Spurs.
If Wigan do beat Arsenal... then they must follow up by beating Villa and survival is guaranteed. Spurs will have to beat Sunderland next week to make it to the Champions league... on the other hand, if Wigan beat Arsenal and Villa then Sunderland will only be able to survive if they beat or draw away with Spurs (giving Arsenal the chance to get that 4th place by beating Newcastle who guaranteed their survival today).
So...
for a nail biting finish to the premiership - Support Wigan!
