Age: Forever 51 (but born at around Mereth Aderthad, so undoubtedly older than she lets on)
Race: Half Noldor, half Sindarin
Occupation: astronomer, fashion designer
Biography:
Niphredil is of the House of the Tower of Snow, one of Penlod's two houses. She is a fashion designer by day, an astronomer by night.
She has set the standards for fashion since Tumladen and continues to do so in Gondolin. There is a joke among the women of the Gondolindrim that the followers of Feanor are probably wearing the same clothes they did in Tirion.
She designs both men and women clothing, but women's clothing changes more from year to year. She sometimes designs jewelry as well to compliment her clothing, but she usually just states what would look best with her clothing line. Her clothing line isn't quite accurate since she's the sole fashion designer (as versus to an ordinary tailor) in Gondolin and has a monopoly on the market.
She sketches or watercolors her designs herself, and she's a skilled tailor but will often make only one original. She'd rather leave the more tedious work to others. She is also quite selective about her customers, rarely designing a new garment for anyone less than aristocracy. (And all except the rich cannot afford her couture)
Her parents met in the Feast of Reuniting and as her mother was from the Sindar, Niphredil was named after Luthien's flower. She lives apart from her parents since she's often very busy and has to work late into the night.
She won't talk about her interests in astronomy in public because she thinks it unfeminine, instead concentrating on being hip, chic and Very Cool in general.
