In an attempt to stream line my life and possessions, I just streamlined my theoretical possessions. In the past 15 minutes, I just cut 2 and a half pages from my main Amazon wishlist, after cross referencing things I had on there that the library carried and also considered that I don't need half the CDs and DVDs that were on there. More purging soon. This time of the physical possessions sense. |

| | grateful | ] | It's RAINING! I love rain! I love it even more when it takes away the muggy, headache & nausea inducing heat. Thunderstorms rock my socks. The ferocious winds, the splattering drops of water, the lightning and thunder... it's awesome.
AWESOME. |

C'mon, that's fucking adorable!
X-posted to weburlesque (<--- this is a community you should join! You know, if you like burlesque, caberet, dancing, half-nekkid ladies and gents and bawdy comedy. Which is, like, at least half my friendslist. Just sayin' :-) |

| | awake | ] | It's far too late and I'm far too awake. This is bad. Sleep soon.
After a conversation with George, he made me realize Fae need a fan. Not a Burlesque feather fan, although she very much wants one or two of those.
No, a gorgeous, foreign or vintage fan.
Sleep is much closer now.
Too much on the brain. Sleep no like too much on the brain.
I will now bitch slap the brain into submissive sleep. |

| [ | Current Mood |
| | disappointed | ] | So, George IMs me with this news flash:
My favorite books growing up, Sweet Valley High, are now being re-released... *gasp*
...in newly updated versions.
Okaaaaayyyy... I'll give them a chance to make this not suck. To not soundly trounce yet another childhood memory.
So they're updating the covers, which I'm really okay with. I think they're pretty. What's got me is that they felt the need to "update" the actual content of the books. To bring the twins into 2008. Instead of a red fiat, they now drive a Jeep Wrangler. That's fine. It's actually what they were driving in Sweet Valley University. (Yes, I'm shameless dork.) And Elizabeth is now editor of the Oracle, the school's website, instead of the school newspaper. Fine, fine, whatev.
However, I find it completely unnecessary to alter the size clothing they both wear. The twins wore a "perfect size 6" in 1983. Grand. But now, in 2008, a size 6 is far too heavy. They're now a "perfect size 4".
Bitches.
And you know what gets me, besides the inherent bullshit of further downsizing women's bodies and self image? That they fucked up the alliteration. A perfect size 6 sounds so much better. Not that this series was one of the literary giants, but it just bothers me that the change fails on so many levels. |

| | "Time Ago" - Black Lab | ] | Let's hear it for insanely productive days!
Today I:
-got my hair cut (finally!)
-had a lovely lunch with my aunt, discussed wedding stuff and family stuff.
-got my oil changed... and got hit on by one of the attendants! Holy crap, this rarely happens to me and it's just so weird! This guy was telling me my car was done, walked me to it and opened the door for me. I thought they were just very nice at Jiffy Lube. Then he asked me if I was in college or high school, which was odd but didn't bother me so I just said I graduated already and now I'm just a normal working girl. He replied with something like "I hear that!" And then he asked if I was single with this strange smile that both brilliant and shy. I blinked and then said I was getting married in 6 weeks. He was very sweet and backed a step up and said congratulations and that now, my car was all in good shape for the wedding! Oddly endearing.
-went to the bank
-met Danielle and Michael (and later, Christian) at the storage unit to make room for all the stuff we're packing up in Danielle's room and my rooms are my dad's and other stuff. We were very efficient! Michael went through about 6 half empty totes to consolidate and wound up with two bags of garbage, more for the "big box of giving away to the pipples" and about two small boxes and a tote and a half of stuff to keep. Danielle, Christian and I all wound up walking away with some neat stuff, as when Michael cleans, he wisely realizes he has a lot of crap he doesn't need anymore and is very generous to give it away if pipples want stuffs.
-the three of us had a nummy Thai dinner. During which, I got a mild migraine and had to go home and take a shower and sleep for three hours while Michael and Danielle ran some crafting errands and did Danielle's homework. Luckily, I woke up around 11:30 and started being productive again. Two loads of laundry have now been done. I organized and emptied a box that's been sitting inthe living room for weeks and also the Christmas nook is a bit sorted now.
-tried Cherry Wine we got for Christmas and wasn't terribly pleased on the first sip. The second sip made me want to take a third sip and by the third, I could've easily downed the bottle. I didn't though. Verrrry tasty stuff.
The days are getting more and more packed as the weeding (and possibly moving in 3 weeks) approaches. Next week is insane. Luckily, we're spending Easter weekend with Michael's parents. I will be able to hopefully get sleep and relax. I have so much to do, but it also feels like it's really not too much. And it will get done. I just have to remember to breathe and pace myself. I'm trying... I'm not succeeding very often, but I am trying.
I think I should prolly try to get some sleep soon. Another busy day tomorrow. Going to look at an apartment tomorrow, then some shopping and dinner and hopefully watching last week's episode of Lost. Good stuff. |

| | cheerful | ] | Gogol Bordello's shooting a music video for "American Wedding", a kickass, fun song.
It's shooting next week, February 26th and 27th in Brooklyn. I sent in my profile/headshots today.
There's a possibility to get paid. Plus, people who're chosen get free, professional headshots!
After how much fun the Voltaire music video shoot was, I want to do this SO much.
Now, we wait.
*sigh* |

| | awake | ] | So, between doing research and following random links all over the internet (the online equivalent of ferret syndrome), I've stumbled across three new (to me), faboo web comics, all of which I'm sure everyone in the free world knows about already. Just in case you don't, though, go check 'em out:
Girly, which isn't currently going but is rumored to be starting up again. However, there are archives!
Then there's Wondermark: An Illustrated Jocularity. Deb and Michael, especially, I'm looking at you. Of course, y'all prolly know it exists. But just in case... :-)
And for those who like adult, absurd, hilarious comics, the same guy who does, uh, did, uh soon to be does Girly also does Doctor Voluptua I damn near peed my pants when I hit the next button. |

So, I don't despise Oprah the way I know many do. I also don't adore her the way many do. I fall somewhere in the middle. Looks like it's a theme. Anyhoo, on the poly LJ I'm a member of, there was this article, which was featured on Oprah.com and CNN.com. I found it darned insightful.

| Huh. |
[Jan. 8th, 2008|12:37 am] |
| What Genevieve Means | You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life. You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone. Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.
You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.
You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.
You are very hyper. You never slow down, even when it's killing you. You're the type of person who can be a workaholic during the day... and still have the energy to party all night. Your energy is definitely a magnet for those around you. People are addicted to your vibe.
You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start. |
