| | confused | ] | In relation to Charlie and the chocolate factory: I cant quite make up my mind if i like it or not...
I really liked the sets, the Bucket's leaning shack was awesome and the classic scene in Wonkas factory just put a whole new C.G spin on an amazing load of chocolate and goodies... but - I'm sad to say i hated the Oompa loompas, their singing was just annoying and the music was too loud to hear all the funky lyrics and underlying moral messages (and lets face it thats what the oompa loompa's are there for - to let all us kiddies know what is bad and how to avoid finding these vices in ourselves.)
I also really missed the bits of the story they cut out (floating fizzy drink sequence / lickable wallpaper "the schnozberries taste like schnozberries" / slugworth etc) and the whole factory part of the film seemed really rushed... However i did love the characters, (Why did Violet come with her mum and Mike Teevee with his dad?) the kids were great, the grandparents the bestest (especially the deaf granma and the grumpy prick of a grandad) and as much as i love Johnny im confused as to if he was a good Wonka or not...
Overall film left me sad and confused - I remember Charlie so fondly as a kid, and although this version is supposed to have been closer to the book, i'm not sure how much i liked it. The movie had moments of greatness but wasn't what i hoped or thought it would be.
Conclusion:I'll have to read the book and see how it compares |

yeah. I dunno.. if i had never seen the origional.. i woulda thought it rocked.. but i think lots of parts were underacted.. like Veruca.. she was only bratty on demand.. and the kids only spoke when the camera was on them..they didnt stay in character all the time.
the factory was rather lame.. the ending rather cool, and the ompa loompas were cool, but yeah i agree about the songs.. rather pointless.. i liked the whole Queen re-enactment though!
so yeah. the first ones better, the second ones more fun looking & funky.. but they needed more cool rooms, and needed to amp it up.. it was too sedate and slow moving.
/rant.
I went to see that movie and I was very excited, but when I left I hated it. It seemed to me that Johnny was a sinical Wonka, and I thought it was stupid that they used that same guy as all the oompa loompas. I also agree that they were annoying and you couldn't hear the music. I must agree that I didn't like the fact that parts were cut out. I was excited to see the floating fizzy part, but it wasn't there. Much Love; Austa: Mishia!!!! p.s. feel free to view my journal if you'd like.

Yeah they are like caffine pills, but I can't take those. It's more like a Redbull drink. A rockstar is just an energy drink. Thank you for visiting my site. I felt like a loner in this community. Much Love; Austa: Mishia!!!! | |
