Second episode of the 'Enemies of Reason' series, this time talking about medicine, or more properly alternative medicine. I quite agree with the explanation on why the placebo effect of the alternative medicines works so well, sometimes even better than the one caused by conventional medicine, by having the 'mystic' effect... We always prefer a supernatural explanation to a complex (but scientific) one. Nicholas Humphrey, a evolutionary psychologist that is interviewed in this documentary, has made some work on the subject, and I must say I was quite interested on his view...
