dominoes [August 21st, 2008]

i was intending to blog about council dinner last week but taking my time about it means i've forgotten pretty much what was going through my mind then so i shan't trouble myself. nevertheless, i still do remember it was great fun and the post-dinner picture party was just... madness.

another week later and i stand on the verge of another school-declared holiday; bless you, sportspeople. school this week and last was relatively good too, if only for getting extract 12 for ioc and the sense of accomplishment that overwhelms following the realization that i've completed all my IAs. of course, there comes the post-shock and then by the time i recover from it (around now, hopefully) i'll realise there's 2 weeks to the prelims.

there's been a bit of council work these past two weeks too, but not that its any less enjoyable of course. i do welcome it (most of the time), its so good to get away from my "real" purpose in going to school.

oh vargs, giggle, get well soon and i'll buy you all the hortdoks you want, ever.

siem reap 30/11-04/12 anyone?!

so anyway! i went to get my hair cut last night. i was kinda getting tired of the whole longish hair thing and figured i could do with something a wee bit shorter. it was getting kinda bouncy and poofy and in the end i just gave up on it since no amount of mainainence would help (or actually be necessary) and the pretty-boy look hardly ever fit anyway. so my hair's shorter now! and i'm happier with it. it's quite nice actually and not all that short anyway. at least i didn't shave it all off right :D

Fireworks [August 21st, 2008]

Fireworks this weekend! Who's going?

BTW, Holgas make good firework cameras. Serious.

Set 'em to bulb mode. Aim. Hold down shutter for 10-15 seconds. Wind forward. Repeat. :) (use ISO 100 or 160 film)

Likely this time will be bigger and much more impressive fireworks than the tiny little ones I shot in that photo though.

Conventional SLRs are good too:

"Tell me something, old friend: why are you fighting?"
"What other reason could there be?" Colonel Gerineldo Marquez answered. "For the great Liberal party."
"You're lucky because you know why,' he answered. "As far as I'm concerned, I've come to realize only just now that I'm fighting because of pride."
"That's bad," Colonel Gerineldo Marquez said.
Colonel Aureliano Buendia was amused at his alarm. "Naturally," he said. "But in any case, it's better than not knowing why you're fighting." He looked him in the eyes and added with a smile:
"Or fighting, like you, for something that doesn't have any meaning for anyone."

hiii. i do not have any tattoos yet due to my indecisive nature. i've been thinking for while now and i really want my first tattoo to be a literary one. although the book isn't my favorite, a quote from a million little pieces just popped out to me. have sort of a mental battle between science and religion and i thought it would be suitable.

Are we biology or God or something Higher? I know my heart beats and I listen to it. The beat is biology, but what is the song?

I'm so happy to have stumbled across this community! Perhaps it will give me the incentive to finally get some of the ink that I have been considering for years (never gone through with it because it seems to be a suicidal move for an aspiring actor, but I do want them...)

Anyway, any tattoo I've considered has been literary. I used to just come up with quote after quote, but lately I've been thinking of more visual representations...

*sorry for so many pictures without actual ink!*

Neverland & Narnia, the 100 Acre Wood, this life is temporary, but they are there for good )

Whew. Apologies for the length. And for all the ellipses. I am curious as to whether anyone has any thoughts, similar tattoos, etc. I think that if I used original illustrations from these books as templates they might actually all flow together quite nicely, as they all seem to (generally) be of the same school of pen & ink thought, which I think works so well with tattoos.

Thanks,

Chelsea.
