Warrant out for Pete Doherty's arrest, He shows up and pays fine
The third time was apparently the charm for Pete Doherty. At least in terms of punctuality.
After missing his two previous hearings on the matter, the Babyshambles frontman finally appeared in British court today to cop to roughing up a paparazzo.
Officially, Doherty pleaded guilty to a charge of causing criminal damage stemming from an encounter last summer.
The Yeovil Magistrates Court accepted Doherty's plea, with the magistrate ruling that there was a "degree of provocation" in the incident before fining the rocker roughly $2,000.
"Yeah, it was OK today. It should have been sorted out ages ago, to be honest," Doherty said outside the court. "It's been hanging over me a long time."
Since last Aug. 22, to be exact. It was then that Doherty, accompanied by family while on a day's release from one of his many stays in rehab, took offense at being followed around town by paparazzo Catherine Mead.
Proving again that Doherty and candid cameras don't mix, the volatile rocker took refuge in a store and, when Mead pursued, he grabbed her camera and smashed the lens. He was eventually arrested in December.
Doherty was ordered to pay Mead roughly $1,800 for the damaged equipment. The remaining $200 fine went toward court fees.
He was originally expected to enter his plea last Friday, but did not show at the courthouse. An arrest warrant was briefly issued but ultimately withdrawn after only a few hours after he pinky swore to appear in court today.

He said: "I believe I saw a UFO once, a long time ago, about 1982, but I don't know what it was." "I saw something in the sky that disappeared. I was having a hard time then, you know, life. There was something in the air and it was gone and I thought, 'You've got to get some rest David." His co-star, Gillian Anderson, also claims to have had encounters with the supernatural. The actress - who plays Mulder's partner Dana Scully in the movie - said: "I've stayed in houses before that I've been pretty certain have been haunted in one way or another, but no real experience, just eerie feelings."

Gerard Butler promotes his new film RocknRolla during Comic-Con 2008 on Thursday at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. “Rocknrolla is better than sex!” declared the 38-year-old Scottish stud. Gerard was accompanied at Comic-Con by the film’s director, Guy Ritchie (Madonna’s husband), and costars Jeremy Piven, Ludacris and Idris Elba. When asked what his favorite memory from being on set was, Gerry answered, “Well, nothing more than getting a shot of B-12 from [Guy Ritchie’s] wife Madonna. She was basically like the nurse, she came in and was all ‘drop your pants!’ and she stuck me in the a–.” The funniest question for Mr. Butler was this: “You’ve done a lot of different roles, what are you looking to get into next?” Gerry joked, “Halle Berry.”

Actors Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Matt Damon, Halle Berry and George Clooney were the most likable celebrities.

Actor Sean Bean spent the night in a police cell following allegations that he assaulted his wife.
Police were called following a claim of domestic assault and arrested the 49-year-old at his London home.
Bean was taken to a police station and kept overnight before being released without charge.
The Lord of the Rings star married his fourth wife, 29-year-old Georgina Sutcliffe, in February.
The couple originally intended to marry in January but cancelled 24 hours before the big day, citing "personal reasons".
Ms Sutcliffe, who is an actress told the Sun: "Everything is okay. Sean and I are at home enjoying the sunshine. He was arrested. Everything was blown out of proportion."
Bean told the newspaper: "I'm fine."
The Sheffield-born actor married his first wife Debra at the age of 21, followed by marriages to Bread actress Melanie Hill and Sharpe co-star Abigail Cruttenden.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called to a home at 11.40pm on Thursday night following an allegation of domestic assault.
"A man was taken to a police station and bailed on Friday morning. Later that day he was advised that no further police action would be taken."

British hotshot Ben Whishaw takes on aristo Sebastian Flyte in the latest screen version of Brideshead Revisited.
Ben Whishaw was only a year old when Anthony Andrews had fans swooning over his portrayal of floppy-haired, teddy bear–toting aristocrat Sebastian Flyte in the 1981 TV miniseries Brideshead Revisited. Television adaptations of great English novels have long enraptured American audiences, though none have ignited Anglomania as did that reworking of Evelyn Waugh’s 1945 classic, set among the fading aristocracy. To those who saw the series, it’s so iconic that the idea of a new big-screen version seems almost impertinent. But Whishaw, who plays the beautiful, doomed Sebastian Flyte in the film, was undaunted by the series’ long shadow. “I didn’t watch it, and to be honest, I haven’t even properly heard about it,” says Whishaw, 27, who, since playing a teenage Hamlet at London’s Old Vic four years ago, has become one of the UK’s most promising young actors.
Looking at him now, as he sits in a café down the street from his North London flat—his green eyes intense, almost glowing and his frame whip-thin—you can see why he’s become the go-to actor for the Brooding Romantic. He’s played a scent-obsessed serial killer in Perfume and a Bob Dylan–Arthur Rimbaud hybrid in Todd Haynes’s and next year he will appear as poet John Keats in Jane Campion’s biopic “He has this extraordinary sensitivity—sort of one skin less than most people around him,” says Trevor Nunn, who directed him in Hamlet. “When Hamlet at the beginning says, ‘Seems! I know not seems,’ it was just astonishing, because there was no seeming. This was the real thing! He was in terrible, terrible distress.”
For the role of Sebastian, Whishaw drew on the novel and on a biography of Waugh. His Sebastian, struggling against his family’s ingrained Catholicism, has an affecting fragility that jibes with Waugh’s exploration of the suffering that religion both addresses and inflicts. The actor was also inspired by a comment made by former Smiths frontman Morrissey, about growing up Catholic. “He said something like, ‘They get you young, and they sear you,’” Whishaw says, his eyes narrowing for emphasis. “Sebastian knows what his nature is and believes he’s going to hell. I wanted to convey that conflict inside him.”

'The Bachelorette’ DeAnna Pappas is busy planning her wedding to fiancé Jesse Csincsak and has already begun shopping for her wedding dress. Pappas was spotted trying on wedding gowns at L.A.’s Monique Lhuillier salon on Tuesday.
Pappas and Csincsak have set their wedding for May 9, 2009, exactly one year after the professional snowboarder proposed on ABC’s Bachelorette.
Pappas recently revealed that she already knows the color scheme she wants for the wedding -- brown, and Csincsak knows he wants a “huge cheesecake.” The couple has also decided that the groomsmen will wear suits instead of tuxedos.

The British actor spoke out about his strained relationship with his mum to reporters at a fundraiser for Bristol Zoo on Thursday. Cleese shocked journalists and fans as he told how had struggled to get along with his mother - who died in 2002 aged 101 - and even said he worried she may never die. He says, "I did have a dreadful mother. Isn't that a terrible thing to say? But it's true. "She was classically self-centred. Always though of herself. And she lived to 101 - I thought I'd never get rid of her."
