Episode 3
Veronica found herself immersed in a daydream. Sean O’Connell was making love to her, and it was unbelievably wonderful.
“Oh Veronica,” he said. “I love you so much. I can’t believe I wasted all that time with Claire.”
“Don’t worry, Sean,” she said. “What matters is that we’re together now.”
At that moment, Claire walked in.
“Oh my God! What’s going on?” She was immediately overcome with sadness.
“I don’t love you anymore,” Sean told her. “I’ve realized how boring and lame you are. It’s Veronica that I love. She’s exciting and sexy.”
Veronica smiled in deep satisfaction as her sister ran off in tears… Now if only it were real!
“It will be reality soon enough,” she said to no one in particular. “Sean will be mine.”

...

“Father?” Jack entered the hospital room slowly. “Oh… my God.”
His eyes widened, and his lips formed a perfect O of shock. Thank God that Lily had decided to go to the hospital gift shop.
“Oh my God!” Angela Rojo shrieked. She quickly tumbled off the man underneath her.
“How—How are you… You were shot! And now you’re having sex!” Jack stammered and stuttered, sure that he was scarred for life by the image of his father and this woman having sex in the hospital bed.
“I’m so sorry,” Angela said. “I don’t know what I was doing. I’ve never done this before, I swear.”
“Jack, son, you really need to learn to knock,” Alexander Greene said calmly.
“Oh, I’m so sorry, Dad. I just didn’t expect to find you cheating on Mom with some slutty nurse.”
“I am not slutty,” Angela countered.
“You were sleeping with a married man!” Jack screamed. “You’re supposed to be a nurse, and you were having sex with a gunshot wound victim!”
“Okay, slow down,” Angela said. “First of all, I didn’t know he was married. Second, I didn’t know about the gunshot wound. Your father told me he was here for a routine checkup.”
“How’s our patient?” Lily asked as she walked in with a dozen balloons and a bouquet of flowers.
“Oh, he’s very healthy,” Jack said with obvious scorn.
“Don’t be bitter, Jack. It doesn’t suit you,” Alexander said.
“I’m going to go,” Angela announced. “I’m really very, very sorry.”
It was only then that Jack really looked at her. Her large brown eyes were filled with remorse. Her dark, curly hair was beautifully mussed from sleeping with his father. Jack fell instantly in love with Angela Rojo. She was the most wonderful woman he had ever met. Lily paled in comparison! His heart sunk when she left the room.
“Did I miss something?” Lily asked.

...

“Colin, did you shoot Dad?”
“What?” Colin Greene turned around in surprise. He had not heard Kayla enter the room.
“Did you shoot him?”
“Of course not,” Colin said, straightening his tie.
“Neither did I,” Kayla said. “I’m pretty sure that Jack didn’t either. Mom’s still talking to a detective, which she wouldn’t do if she had shot Dad, so who did it?”
“You’re no fan of Father’s, Kayla. Why do you care?”
“Curious, I guess. Plus I’m bored. I just made love with Drew for two hours, and I feel like challenging my brain a little.”
“Charming,” Colin said. “And how is Mr. O’Connell?”
“Still middle-class. Still incredibly good-looking.”
“Still thinks you’re an angel?”
“Naturally,” she said. “He’s never going to find out otherwise. Who would tell him?”
”Maybe I would,” he said, shrugging.
“Oh, right. Like he would believe you. You’re not exactly the most credible person on the planet.”
“We’ll see,” he told her dismissively. He went back to business: the only thing he loved.

...

“I love you so much,” Sean said.
“I love you too,” Claire answered.
“You’re my soul mate,” Sean whispered.
“You’re my soul mate too,” Claire said.
“I’m so glad my brother let me borrow his car,” Sean told her. “Being in the backseat with you like this is Heaven.”
“One day we’ll go all the way,” Claire said earnestly.
“I’d wait for you forever,” Sean said immediately, secretly hoping that “forever” meant “sometime in the next two months.”
“Oh, Sean,” she said. “I know you would.”

...

Samantha O’Connell, middle sister of Drew and Sean, sat on her sofa. Alone again. It seemed as though her life never had a storyline. Drew was dating Kayla. Sean was dating Claire. Her parents had one another. She wanted someone to love.
“Hi Sam,” Drew said, yawning as he entered the room.
“Drew, do you have any single friends for me to date?” Samantha blurted out.
“None good enough for my little sister,” he joked.
“I’m desperate here,” she begged. “I’ll take anyone!”
“Well, uh, what about Kayla’s older brother?”
“Colin Greene? Isn’t he completely obsessed with the family business?”
“Maybe he’s just waiting for the right girl,” Drew said, smiling at the idea. “Kayla’s family loves me. They’ll totally love you too.”
Samantha had to admit that Colin was incredibly hot. He was several years older and had a reputation for being a reptilian, soulless man, but maybe Drew was right. Maybe she was the girl who would melt Colin Greene’s heart.
