Episode 2
Detective Jeff Jones had not been inside the Greene mansion in over twenty years. As he examined the blood-soaked white carpeting, he couldn’t help but remember the last time he had been there. It was on the eve or Marnie and Alexander’s wedding. He had tried to talk her out of marrying that evil, corrupt, greedy, dirty, rich mama’s boy. Needless to say, he had failed in his attempts. Marnie was the first woman he ever really loved, and part of him would never recover from the way she hurt him.
“I’ve never loved you,” she’d said that night. “I love Alexander. Alexander, the man with the gun! The man I’m being blackmailed into marrying!”
She was crying at the time, and Jeff had the strangest sensation that she was being held at gunpoint, but still her words were very convincing. He knew that she was deeply in love with Alexander, and it shattered him.
“Jeff?” Marnie lacked confidence for the first time in years. Would he remember her?
“Mrs. Greene,” he said coldly. Remembering how she broke his heart was making him angry.
“Oh, Jeff,” she continued. “I thought I’d never see you again.”
“It seems that someone broke into your home by throwing a rock through this window, and when your husband came to investigate, the perp shot him,” Jeff said, trying to be professional.
“Jeff, I don’t care about that,” Marnie said. “How have you been? What have you been doing the past twenty years? Are you still single? I may be a widow soon.”
“I’m married with two children,” he said.
Marnie fainted on the spot.

When Jack and Lily arrived at the emergency room, they expected to see the entire Greene family rallied around their patriarch. No one was there.
“Excuse me, nurse,” Jack said, pulling aside a young nurse. “Have you seen my sister Kayla? Kayla Greene?”
“She left,” the nurse said. “She had a … family emergency.”
“She left this family emergency for another family emergency?” Jack asked, perplexed.
“Uh, sure,” the nurse said. These people were nuts.
“Where’s my father?” Jack demanded.
“We moved him to Room 300,” the nurse stated.
“Should we buy flowers or something?” Lily asked. She had learned such things in finishing school.
“No time,” Jack said. Lily almost reminded him that there was always time for good manners, but he was already racing towards the elevator.

Wendy Jones was baking cookies for her darling children and her loving husband. As she sliced the cookies onto a pan, she thought about her wonderful life. Her husband, Jeff, was crazy about her. She had his complete, undivided love and attention. Her twin daughters, Claire and Veronica, were wonderfully talented, sweet girls. They were also best friends. She sighed in satisfaction. Thank God that everything was so perfect and nothing could possibly tear it apart. It was at this moment that the twins arrived home from school.
“Hi Mom,” Claire said, cheerfully. “Guess what happened at school today?”
“Don’t tell her,” Veronica begged.
“Ryan Rojo asked Veronica to the prom in front of the whole school,” Claire announced. “He did it in the middle of the big pep rally!”
“What the hell did I just say?” Veronica yelled in despair.
“Oh, honey, that’s great,” Wendy said. “Ryan’s such a nice boy.”
“I’m not going with that loser,” Veronica said, taking a beer from the refrigerator. She deserved one after the day from hell she just had.
“He’s the President of the class, as well as the captain of the soccer team,” Claire said. “Everyone thinks he’ll get a scholarship to an Ivy League school, too. He’ll be a wonderful prom date, Veronica.”
“I’d rather go with your boyfriend,” Veronica mumbled. Claire didn’t hear her.
“Who wants cookies?” Wendy chirped, pulling the cookies from the oven. Veronica stomped upstairs in a fit of rage, but Wendy made sure to save some cookies for when she was feeling a little less grumpy.

Kayla Greene loved being Drew O’Connell’s girlfriend. It made her parents so angry to see their only daughter with someone so middle-class. Plus he was incredibly good-looking.
“Oh, Drew,” she whispered. “I was so scared when they told me Daddy had been shot.”
“Shh,” Drew said, stroking her hair. “You’re okay now.”
The one catch with dating Drew was that Kayla had to pretend to be an innocent little girl. Drew didn’t seem to question why a twenty-one year old woman behaved in this manner. In fact, it was why he loved her.
“They wouldn’t even let me visit him,” she said with a little sniff.
“You poor darling,” Drew said, holding her closer. The mood was ruined when Drew’s younger brother Sean busted into the room.
“Hey Drew, can I borrow your car?”
Kayla sighed. At least Sean’s annoying little girlfriend wasn’t with him this time. What was her name? Clara? Something stupid.
”No problem, kiddo,” Drew said. “The keys are on the kitchen table.”
Kayla tried to arrange her face in a more pleasing expression. Look sweet. Look sweet.
“You’re so sweet,” Drew said, and they went back to cuddling.

“Father?” Jack entered the hospital room slowly. “Oh… my God.”
His eyes widened, and his lips formed a perfect O of shock. Thank God that Lily had decided to go to the hospital gift shop for flowers and balloons. Jack would have hated to have her witness… this.
