I'm finding it amusing on TWoP, seeing how many people are assuring everyone that KB has said she wants Logan and Veronica together because she knows that's what the fans want. And why would she lie about it? While talking to the fans?

Seeing the connection there? Do people really expect her to look a Logan fan in the eye and talk about how she's hoping they never get back together? She's an actress. I think she's capable of saying what she thinks people want to hear.

I don't even ship V/L, but c'mon, the writing is on the wall.

Speaking of not being an L/V shipper, I really hope that when all is said and done, people remember that there is so much to dislike about this season that has nothing to do with LoVe. One doesn't need to be a shipper to be disappointed in the direction this show has taken, and appears to still be going in. Let's not forget how horribly misused the cast has been (and I include JD in there-it's the quality, not the quantity). On the rare occasions they have shown up, they've been almost totally wasted. One of Wallace's biggest storylines this year was telling V about seeing Logan and Parker together? This is depressing.

But most importantly, let's not overlook how just plain BORING this season has been. It's like no one cares. There's no spark, no energy. I know people adore JD but even he's been phoning it in on occasion. When the plotlines haven't been predictable they've been sloppy and borderline (or over the line) offensive. I know others are hating Veronica for becoming more self-righteous and cold, but personally all my hate is reserved for the portrayal of the militant campus feminists and the super clever RU-486 episode. And to put the cherry on the crap sundae that's been S3, we get to close the whole thing out with a third go at a sex tape storyline. As annoyed as I am by it, it's rather fitting to end it this way. Anything less wouldn't be keeping with everything that's come before it.

After using this LJ mostly to lurk, and then pretty much forgetting about it entirely, I'm thinking I may start actually posting in it. Of course, I doubt anyone in particular is reading right now, but that's fine. It's good to get things off your chest right?

I've been thinking about Veronica hate lately. Because really, I don't particularly have it. No, this isn't going to be an essay on all the trials and tribulations she's gone through and how everyone should cut her some slack. No, I've just been thinking about how I've never liked Veronica. Even back in S1. The way she treated her friends, her tendency towards smirky self-satisfaction. I didn't hate her. But despite the untold piles of shit that were dumped in her life, I never really felt for her either. She was just there and no real impediment to my enjoyment of the show. It wasn't a situation where I had to watch in spite of her. It was that the plot, the mystery, the dynamics of the high school setting, were as crucial to me as the title character, so I could work around her. So when I see the hate now, it's not that I don't get it. It's that I mostly think, "Where were you when I was the only one who couldn't care less about her?" Kidding. Sort of.

Because honestly, it is sort of nice to see that more people are seeing how judgemental she can be, how annoyingly lame much of her quick-fire quipping is, how frustrating it is that the show insists on making sure we know that she is incredibly gifted and skilled at everything ever. And though my issues with her have much less to do with her relationship with Logan and more with just her being, in general, insufferable, I get the hate. Yes, I do.

And yet, I'm still watching. To be honest, I'm not even sure why. Am I just desperate for closure? Is it just the bright prettiness the show still captures on occasion? The possibility that maybe they'll allow Logan to do something interesting again? I don't know. But I do know that I've become more and more hopeful that they'll just kill the show off this season so I can at least hold onto a few warm memories of when I found it so scarily addictive and exhilarating.
