Stuff and things

- I left my headphones at work over the weekend, so just when I wanted to block out the world on the bus this morning, I couldn't. I haven't listened to my MP3 player in ages, but this morning I really didn't want to hear about the final Tottenham score and their mate who auditioned for an all male review. No no no. I just wanted to listen to Jay and the Doctor, interspersed with that guy from FBi when they're talking to listeners (I can't stand phone-ins in the morning).

- I wrote 1673 words for my 2000 word essay and submitted it. You'd think I'd be able to write loads about East Timor - in my research I came across a report that was 2500 pages long, and the summary itself was 219 pages. Obviously I can summarise the situation really well. They should have gotten me to write the summary. ("...and lots of people died and it was very sad, the end.") The majority of my essay consisted of me slagging off the Howard government. I don't think you're supposed to do that.

- After a month of leave and a week of summery weather on my return, I am having a lot of trouble concentrating on anything. I just want to bunk off and laze around on the balcony. Even in this weather. It's still fairly humid, so it even feels summery when it's 20 degrees.

- I am the only person in my house who had to go to work today. A pox on the slackers! *shakes fist*

- I should do some work. Yes. I'd much rather faff around on LJ and send emails to my friends, though.

- I had this song in my head all weekend, so I thought I'd post it again:

It gets my vote for the Hottest 100. It was released this year, right?

- MOTHS! MOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHSS!!

There is nothing worse than not being able to drown out the sounds of your fellow public transport travellers with your own music. I've reached the stage now where the mp3 player (previously the Discman) is a vital part of travelling, more so than having something to read. Getting engrossed in a book on the bus or train no longer suffices to distract me from people. Sometimes even the music isn't enough, of course, but generally it does the trick...

I think I've only been under the word limit once for an essay - it happened the other day and I felt a bit uneasy. I usually go over by quite a bit... if its 1500 words, I'll do 2000, if its 2500 I'll do about 3250. I haven't been penalised for it thankfully.

I should get you to write my latest, its 1500 words and I know I'll go over even though I don't want to :-(
