TONIGHT
i am playing with the danielson famile at north six in brooklyn. bro. danielson will be in his tree, and maybe there will be some special little woodland friends making an appearance in the williamsburg forest. it's the last show with neman herman dune doing my percussions before he takes his hot ass back to france. show starts at 9.



if you can't make it tonight i will be at the knitting factory on tuesday. that night i am going to show my video- FINALLY!

i like kimya's record alot, and i like her "anti bush" song as you call it. my music sounds nothing like kimya's, but i love the honesty and simplicity of what she's doing. just because she doesn't count odd meters or play long guitar solos or whatever you think makes one kind of music better than another doesn't mean her music isn't valid.

i love you matt, there's no reason to talk shit about people to make yourself feel better. you're a good person. people will like you for you. be yourself, drop the tough guise.

she just happens to be one of the best lyrists of our time in my opion, and she does what she needs to do and i love her for that.

actually I dont have a political party, but I am more democratic than republican, actually I have heard the eminem because I drove with a friend who only had radio at the time and we like listening to shitty music, next time I'll put in Kimya.

if you aren't writing anti-bush lyrics, then you aren't doing your part. bush is a serious problem. and i would personally like to take this opportunity to give props to all of the "punk rawkers" -- who happen to be miles ahead of people years their senior.

i am not going to go on about how rude it is for you to try and assert your opinion in kimya's own journal, though you can rest assured that i think it is pretty rude. you should learn to show people the respect they deserve for having what it takes to put their thoughts out there for the world to see.

and i don't want to bag on the artists that you name further down, they are great. i would say, though, that the sea and cake fail in lyrical comparison to both kimya and eminem. but that doesn't matter. there is no such thing as bad music, just bad people. dizzy once said that there is only one song with many parts, and all those who pull a part down to share it with the world are lucky to have been able to do so (i think it was dizzy?).

and as absurd as it sounds, i happen to think a duet (and that is the word, it's not "duo") with eminem would be awesome.

in parting, i would suggest you find the meaning of songs before you are so haste to judge them. and if you still don't like them, that's cool. it's just a matter of personal taste. but people often put their hearts and souls into their art, and it's rather insulting to turn that into a personal attack on another human being.

to the other people that wrote comments:

1. i am a republican who is socially liberal and doesn't like bush.
2. pavement b-sides often kick ass. in fact, pavement kicks ass -- end of story.
3. the solution to the world's problems is not to answer personal attacks with other personal attacks. even the meanist of people should be welcomed with open arms. after all, we all say things we may later regret. and don't forget, and eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.
4. no one should ever listen to a mutt that preaches. so go ahead and disregard everything i said before number four on this list.

Have you ever met Kimya before? I know you haven't because anyone who has would never say such awful things to her. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met, and for that reason alone does not deserve your unkind unnecessary words. How old are you? 18, right? Maybe you have not experienced life enough to appreciate where Kimya comes from in her songs. How about she write a nice catchy verse chorus verse tune with a hot bouncy beat and a really wicked bass riff? Put it to a 5 million dollar MTV video, so you can see it between Clearasil commercials...

I really don't understand people like you. I'm sure you thought it would be fun to attack someone on her own livejournal page while you hide behind a VERY KOOL user picture, and then watch the shit fly. In case the thought hadn't crossed your mind, the person you insulted is a human being. A real person! Not just a voice on a song or a picture on a computer. A big difference between people like you and people like Kimya is that people like Kimya do whatever they can to treat people with kindness and love, instead of voluntarily dropping the level of human decency 3 notches just because he's an edgy dude who thinks his negative opinion is not only of value, but one that should be shared without proper restraint.

Kimya makes many many people happy every day. Can the same be said for yourself?
