***tour updates at end of post***

Here is a pic of Paul Baribeau, Matt Tobey, and Me playing at the Spirit Awards.

Matt has put his Matty Pop Chart thing on hold for now for his new band Good Luck</p>.

Paul has a myspace page
HERE.

My friend Heather Treadway re-made my dress out of an old dress I had. Her Etsy store is HERE.

On Sunday we went and had a show at Rhino Records in Claremont. I wasn't feeling well but for the most part it was still fun. It was just frustrating because during my set I explained that me and Panda had been sick and I didn't want for me or her to get sicker so I wouldn't be doing any hugging after my set and I just needed some space. Some people were really pushy though. It was frustrating. It's not like I don't want to hug people and take pictures. It's just that sometimes I have to be germ conscious. And sometimes I am tired and stressed out and just want to chill with Panda after I play. I hate having to be the asshole when someone keeps coming back, like 3 or 4 times, after I play a free show, and have kindly explained the situation. There were some kids who just didn't get it and when I finally kind of snapped and said "Please, give me space!" (I was with Panda) They were like "Do you know how many of your albums I own?" Jeez Louise. Some people. Give em an inch they want a mile.

I am not a dick. I was super tired and sick. Ugh.

I feel like to survive this next tour there is going to be a whole lot more chilling with Panda after I play. I bet some people are going to get mad and call me a sellout because of that too. It will be the first huge tour where I do all the driving. Ange drove in Europe last summer so I sat with Panda and could nurse her in the car. He doesn't have a US license though, so I will be driving many hours a day this time. By the time the shows are over at night I am just going to hang out with my baby. And I really hope we don't get sick. Oh man.

I would rather play and rest. Play and rest and make it through the trip. Than play and hug people for 2 hours and be exhausted and get sick and cancel shows. We'll see how it goes. If I have ease off the multihour post show hangouts for the sake of my wellness and my family I hope people can be understanding and respectful.

Blah.

After the Rhino show we were invited to an official Fox Searchlight Oscars viewing party, but opted to hang out at the home of our dear friends the Callacis instead.

They had DVRd the Spirit Awards so we watched that first. Then we watched the DVRd Oscars. We fast forwarded through a lot of it. Like all the montages and commercials. But during all of the songs from Enchantment it was a crazy sing along dance party, where new dances were invented such as the "Poop on Rael" dance, the "Step Over Rael" dance, the "Poop on Paul" dance, and the "How do you know?" dance.

I typically don't give a shit about these who is he best kinds of events, but I got busted getting weepy over Diablo's sweet speech.

Then we watched Barbara Walters. We replayed the clip of Vanessa Williams singing like 50 times so we could do the "Listen to the world, listen to the sky" dance.

Then we watched Barbara interview Ellen Page. The talked about The Moldy Peaches and how Barbara doesn't get it.

What's not to get?

We replayed some of her choicest nauseated facial expressions multiple times. We also filmed me and her face having a hum off.

And we replayed the end bit a bunch where she was dangerously close to showing snatch, in her high-slit gown, while she talked about how she wanted to sit upon the face of Harrison Ford.

Silly Babs. What's not to love?

So we danced more and sang a song and dance called "Don't Pinch My Balls".

It was the most fun I have had in a long time.

Now we are home for 6 days before this crazy ass tour....

Hello.
I just found out about you from watching The Spirit Awards.
What a treat. Anyway. Wanted to say I really respect you after reading just a paragraph of this entry. And I think your music is very cute.
I also adored reading your entry about being around all the celebs. It's pretty awesome being a non-celeb and reading a journal entry on a person who is slowly heading down celebrity lane, but is still so amazed about it.
Take care. :]

Ashley

Hopefully the weather will cooperate with your first chunk of dates. You may get rain in Tampa and Texas, but the humidity (aka sweat) should help clear all the sinus drama. And yay for having a day off in Florida! Safe travels to you all...

That is a lot of driving to be doing, lady. Dayum.

I feel really sad for you that people can't respect that you need your space. I mean, it must be really hard being "on" all the time, you know?

I know! Stop bathing and smell really bad and people won't want to hug you as much! Then when you are in the mood for hugging, you can shower and be all "OPEN SEASON ON HUGS!"

i wanted to let you know how much i loved your show on sunday. i thought it was amazing that even though you were sick and on one hour of sleep, you and your friends still played a full set for free. i feel so bad that people were crowding you after, and i guess i'm part of that for sticking around towards the end to say 'hi'. i love you and your family and your friends so much and i hope the rest of the tour goes better for you than sunday did.

I saw you play maybe a month ago and wanted to give you a big hug, but I didn't because I was sick (this was the most difficult decision I've ever had to make.) I'm just glad now in retrospect that I didn't contribute to your poor health...

You seem like a grade-A choice hugger, Kimya. I hope to maybe sample your wares someday.

If ya'll need a hospitable place to crash for the April 12th show, my parents live barely a mile from the Notre Dame campus. They're old, sweet, and boring... my mom is an art teacher and loves kids, so I'm sure she'd be into Panda. (She's pretty much given up on me ever providing her with grandchildren.)

Kimya! We're so anxious in Lafayette, LA. I'm pretty sure we all collectively pooped ourselves when we found out you were playing here. Any ideas on where you're going to play? My friend Nick said he offered up his house. =)

Hey Kimya, I'm no expert but as far as I know int'l driver licenses are acceptable in most states so long as you're not a resident. You might want to look into it.

i noticed some comments from your last entry where people were talking about Netti Pots. i have had chronic sinusitis all of my life. i've even ahd my sinuses drained twice.
i looked around a bit on the intanet and that thing looks kind of scary.
but it works well?
and i understand that you can get plastic or ceramic. do you think one is better than the other?

Whoa, those are a lot of shows!! Also: the health of your baby and you = way more important than whiny people. I hope you all feel better soon.

Last, I am so happy you're coming back to Tacoma! I had plans for a long time to see you at The Grand, and then the day of, one of my pet rats got sick so I had to take care of her (she is better now!). Anyway, I will be happy to see you this summer. :) :) :)

You shouldn't have to feel obligated to hug people. You have a baby and a husband and you need to stay well in order to keep making wonderful music at wonderful shows, and if people dont understand, they're clearly not REAL FANS. Some people just want want want!

Hope your nose is feeling better<3
