Oakland Secet Show
Here is the invite, straight from the chef:


Hey everyone. I am very excited to announce a special dinner and show next Wednesday, February 20. Join us for a four course vegetarian dinner with music to follow:

KIMYA DAWSON (yes, from the Juno soundtrack and Moldy Peaches)

PALMS (aka THE FINCHES)

I'm working out the menu. Here is the sketch at present:
hutterite bean soup, croutons, wild rice
roasted wild mushrooms and potatos, tahini-porcini cauliflower, sauteed bitter greens, nettle puree, beet
salad with heirloom greens, nuts, watermelon radish, exotic citrus, chevre
barhi dates, apples, dried apriums, maple...

secret location by the Oakland/Emeryville border
2/20 at 6:00pm, music at around 8:30pm

I played 2 or 3 of your albums for Emily today (she's a big fan of the "Call It What You Want - This Is Antifolk" so I figured it was time for a bigger dose of you) and she seemed to enjoy them. Tonight I saw "Juno" and loved it, loved the soundtrack. I might wait a few years to show the movie to Emily but I'll certainly buy the soundtrack.

Kimya, I saw you in portland at Music Millenium-- I'm the vermont girl, you know. It was amazing, way too packed though. That was my firt time seeing you since I've only lived on the west coast 2 weeksd, but I look forward to talking to you again. Your baby songs are so very cute.

...okay, that sounds awesome, alas I will be nowhere near ya'll for said event.

However, I may completely jank your menu ideas for a dinner party of my own coming up. I'll write your names on the napkins...or maybe just play Hidden Vagenda. We'll see.

off the subject tho, quick question. on your australian tour... any time for adeliade? i know its a bit... some may say shit, i like to say quite (i like it that way) but we got some wiked venues (the gov.. reli personal.. reli awsome). im pritty sure you'll find you alot more (i also dont like the word fan)of you music Appreciators than you'll think! me and a few mates are trying to save up to go to brisbane to see you but funds r pritty low for us all. if u could let us kno if theres ANY chance in seeing u here... otherwise hope to see u in brisbane!!!! cheers man. eliza
