5 little ducks
1. It is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I get to meet Whoopi Goldberg. This is extremely significant to me. If you only know her from Sister Act I beg you to go get a copy of her old Broadway show. And I beg you to watch The Color Purple.
These are things that helped shape me and changed how I absorb things and how I deal with sadness. And how I smile.
Please keep this in mind as you watch me blubbering and trying not to cry on The View today. I LOVE HER. Immensely.

2. For those of you calling me hypocrite- The View doesn't have writers so it is not affected by the strike. I looked into it. I wouldn't have crosed that line. Not even for Whoopi. Not even if DeVito was the other guest instead of *gasp* Colin Powell.

3. I got a nice message from a guy named Chico. He lives at the house in Boston and says that the folks living at the house were never informed that I wanted a room to be clean and babyproof. It was a woman who doesn't live at the house who set up the show and apparently everyone involved was being told different things. Sigh. Pretty lame. So, yeah, no hard feelings to the party house dudes. I guess it is a pretty well known trashy party house. The show never should have been set up there. I was (mis)led to believe it would be okay. If any of you ever see that I am set to play somewhere nightmarish feel free to tell me. I would appreciate that. Oh and most of the people who sent me mean messages were understanding once I had a chance to explain myself. So my only beef is with the show-setter-upper, but it is over. Thank goodness.

And lets not forget Whoopi's frequent appearances on Star Trek the Next Generation. I'd also love to get an uninterrupted hour with Powell to pick his brain on a few things. Of anyone even remotely related to the current presidential administration, he's the only person I have any sort of respect for.

The pariah beat guys are all really nice, i can't see them doing anything like that on purpose. Chico is one of the best dressed people I've ever met.

Yay!

People really say nasty things to you? Between the house show and now this post you have mentioned people making rude comments. Who would do that to you? I really do find it hard to believe. Do they listen to your music? Do they know anything about you at all? I'm no Kimya expert by any means but my respect and love for you are immense, and I guess I always just thought everyone who read your journal (or myspace) felt like I do. But I guess I was wrong.
You do have a lot of young fans, still idealistic because they have not been living in the real world long enough to know about the strife life often presents.
Nothing is perfect.
In any case, I will so totally be tuning in to the view, and by the way, the Color Purple is one of my top favorite movies. Keep smiling. And you are finally getting the recognition you deserve. It's a mixed emotion seeing all the "new" fans who found you thru Juno. On one hand, so many people will be loving your music and hopefully will be touched like I've been touched. But on the other hand, it will never be the same. And thats sad.
Enough rambling....

I recently added you to my friends list after hearing an interview with you on NPR. Your music is so much fun and it is the first time in a long time that I've been inspired to write. So, thanks for breaking my writers block.( I am a poet, and do some spoken word)

Good for you for sticking to your principals with that house show, you are a great mom to be so conscientious. And what a doll Panda is! I wish mine were little again for a few days.. mine are 15 and 11

The show at the Ethical Society (YAY ETHICS!) was great. I thought that line above the stage, something like "The place we meet to attain the highest is holy ground," was really apt and perfect to be doing your thing under. A bunch of folks in one place singing along and thinking about how to be the most loving and how to best treat people and ways to deal with corruption, pretty special.

I hope you get many hugs from Whoopi today!

Hey Kimya,

I don't think you should let anyone give you any guff about the writers' strike. Nor do I think you should explain yourself for making a television appearance.

The people who question you are the same ones who watch Leno, Conan, and the Daily Show every night.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I just got done reading the article about you in the New York Times. Your fans won't abandon you.

Around four years ago you came to play a show at Valentine's in Albany. My sister & I wanted to see you but she was too young to get in. Instead of just giving up, my sister contacted you & you ended up telling the bouncer that she was in the band & she sang back-up for you on a few songs. I have to say that this was one of the best experiences I have ever had.. it showed me that people can be so kind & that music really can bring people together (& that it isn't always all about the money). I will always always remember how sweet you were & how much you actually gave a crap about people who care about your music. I'm sure loads of people around the country have memories of you like that & while we still have those memories in our hearts, you could never be abandoned.

Thank you.

i am not trying to be mean.. because i love you so much.. but the view does have writers..
here is and article
WGA asks Michelle to skip 'The View'

From Edwards' statement on honoring WGA picket lines:

Elizabeth and I will honor the members of the Writers Guild of America who are on strike at ‘The View’ by canceling our appearance on the show next week. I call on all of my fellow candidates and their campaigns to do the same.

Michelle Obama is expected to host "The View" on Dec. 5.

UPDATE: A bit more detail from a spokeswoman for the Writers Guild of America East, Sherry Goldman.

"We have writers on strike at 'The View,'" she said. "They are doing the show, and they are doing it with the producers writing copy, but there are striking writers at 'The View,' and they are on the picket lines."

Asked about Michelle Obama's plan to host the show, she said: "We hope that she won't."

and i am not posting this to be mean just to inform you.. because i am too on strike

hey a.k.a. was great.
enjoy your slingshot monkey!

hey next time you're here don't be so hungry and tired so we can chat.

oh yeah, and funny story...
that night we got our car towed!
sasha called shotgun, and i said you can't call shotgun until you see the car, but then the car was GONE.
we got it back, a few hours and $165 later.
but we were singing your songs the whole time to make us feel better.
