hi. we're home. it's good to be back. two and a half months is a long time to be away from home. a good long time. thank you europe, we had fun.

as soon as we got back i joined a new water aerobics class at the salt water pool. it's great. we sing while we prance around. i sang "bobby-o" to them yesterday. when you hear "bobby-o" you will see why it's so silly. they were all singing the "ohhhhhh bobby-o!" parts.

panda had her first swimming lesson today. she kinda liked it. i think it will take her a few weeks to get used to the pool. she spent most of the lesson not actually in the pool, but she wasn't crying either. last time we took her to the pool she had a nervous breakdown.

so there is this issue we need to discuss. in the song "loose lips", where i talk about im'ing me and stuff. i just want to apologize for never logging in to my im acct. anymore. too many people im me and then don't say anything and just want to be entertained. and then they get mad if i don't say anything. even if i explain that i am trying to talk to a bunch of people at once. and then there are the "are you famous?", "who are you?" kids that just get im names off of some mystery list. it is almost impossible to deal with aim these days. i will try, but please don't expect toooo much from me. along the same lines, i have been getting some really mean messages lately from people who are mad at me for not replying to their myspace messages. i have been called "bullshit" even. seriously, if you are having a crisis and you write to me i will write back to you. if you write to say hello and thanks for the music or to tell me panda is cute, i might not write back. i will read your message. i will love it and appreciate it, but if i wrote back to every message i would be a negligent mother. i would never write another song. i would never play another show. i would never pee or poop again, at least not in a toilet. i would just sit here, replying all the time. i write my bulletins. i read my messages. i post pictures of my vacation. please don't get mad if i don't write back. PLEASE. it dosn't mean i am full of shit. it just means i am busy. i do lots of stuff. i go on tours. i paint things. i am a mama. i swim with old people 3 times a week. cut this sister some slack. i love your messages. i do.

well, i did fuck up one thing. a girl from neumos wrote to me while we were still in europe and asked me to do this show and i said yes, not realizing it was a 21+ show. ugh. which means...most everyone who normally comes to my shows can't come AND panda has to stay downstairs in the greenroom the whole time. super lame. but i said i would play so i am going to play and i am sure it will be fun. so if you are over 21 come on down. get wasted, heckle, try to get laid. do whatever old people do at bar shows. if you are under 21, forgive me and sit tight. i will have a civilized all ages seattle show asap. kids know how to act.

after that we will hopefully be making it to the toronto film festival for the premiere of JUNO. A lot of my songs are in this movie. it's pretty exciting. fox searchlight. i know. i know. but i have two words for you. JASON BATEMAN. put a sock in it.

panda loves jason bateman. it would be child abuse to not do all i can for her to have the chance to meet him someday.
