Panda had a HUGE projectile vomit on saturday night. Then on Sunday she woke up really hoarse and coughing. Her nose was like a faucet. Her voice was so sad but she was still smiley and silly. Sunday night she projectile vomited TWICE in bed. So I paged her naturopath who suggested phosphorus 30c. After that she fell asleep though and was just a little whimpery.

Yesterday, she woke up with the green slime pouring out of her nose and she felt really warm. We kept doing the steam and the bulb syringe, but last night she just wouldn't fall asleep and her temp went up to 101.4. She threw up around 12:30 am, and her cough was really bad. So I paged the doc again and she said to just keep monitoring the temp and try to make it through the night. She is in Seattle and we moved to Olympia, so we couldn't drive up there in the middle of the night, because I haven't had much sleep lately. She eventually fell asleep but when we checked her temp at 6am she seemed unusually out of sorts so we went to the ER.

IT WAS SOOOO SAD!!!!!

I had to get her naked and hold her tight while she was shaking and crying so they could look in her ears and nose and do a throat culture. Then two lab techs came for a urine sample and used a catheter to get the sample. THEN a nurse and a student drew blood from her little arm while she screamed more. THEN a rectal thermometer. THEN a chest x-ray in the horrible torture device upright x-ray baby holder. Then a nose swab.

I nursed her after all the torture while we waited for the results which came back positive for RSV, a sinus infection, AND and bladder infection.

When it seemed like it couldn't get worse the hospital doctor (who when we first came in said "First time parents? I bet it's just a cold!") said "Well, in order to control the vomiting you need to stop nursing her whenever she wants it. Nurse her a lot less and give her pedialyte instead. You don't want her to be one of those SIDS babies." I, of course, said I wasn't going to stop nursing her on demand, even if it means i sleep sitting up with her in my arms!!!

Then he told us to get disposable dipes because cloth diapers CAUSE u.t.i.s.

He prescribed augmentin and discharged her. We drove straight to Seattle and made it to her appointment at noon. We decided to stick with the ABX because that will treat both infections and hopefully prevent the pneumonia and bronchiolitis that the RSV could lead too. Her nice doctor Tami also added an echinachea and thymus tincture and a lobelia extract and Hyland vit. C tablets for Panda and more sodium ascorbate and probiotics for her and I both, because I am still on ABX for my spider bite (which is still gnarly, but I haven't been thinking about it).

We decided that it wouldn't be such a bad idea to do the disposable diapers for a week or two, because she cries when she pees because it hurts her, especially since the catheter. I went to Whole Foods and bought a pack of Seventh Generation unbleached whatever diapers and almost cried in the store. It felt sad and wrong. But I definitely don't want her to hurt down there.

I went to my parents house, in Seattle, and gave her the Augmentin and nursed her. Then my dad wanted to hold her and without thinking sat her up and she barfed all over him. There was sooooo much mucous in the vomit that I guess it is good it came out.

Then we drove home in traffic and it took a few hours to go 60 something miles, but she slept most of the way. My exhaustion and overwhelmedness kicked in around 15 miles from home so Ange drove the rest of the way and I sat in the back with the sickling.

I gave her the vit. c tablet as soon as we got home and put a weird thin paper dipey on her. Now she is laughing at her daddy, which is a relief because there were no smiles all day. Her temp has stayed at 100.5 since we got home too. I am prepared for (well not really prepared for, but expecting) another sleepness night.

Poor little baby girl.

I am going to become that Mama that makes everyone who touches her wash their hands with bleach and boiling water.

Oh and Ange is the best. Seriously.
