WHAT A WEEK.

so on tuesday i had to fly to new york for the john waters show and 2 hours before my flight the transit workers strike started. so i ended up paying $75 for a cab to sean and bibbe's place on 127th street. then instead of trying to go out and see people and do stuff we just hung out and ate sandwiches and read magazines and listened to music and talked. it was like 20 degrees outside and there was no way to get anywhere except to walk or go by taxi. then on wednesday me sean and bibbe went to catch a cab down to the bowery ballroom and it took FOUR HOURS to get downtown!!!!! it seemed like the whole city was very angry. i always imagine situations like that would make people stop taking the people who keep things running for granted but it just seemed like everyone got mad at the workers. i wasn't mad at the workers. i was just scared i might miss the show.

i didn't miss the show.

i got there with exactly enough time for david herman dune to tune my guitar while i put on my new green satin gown. the sound girl at bowery had done my sound before and the sound was perfect. it was fun to play with david and there were actually chairs in the club so half the audience was sitting. it was nice. and the trachtenburgs were late so i got to play longer.

while they were playing ian, who set up the show, came up to me and said "john would like to meet you after the show, will you be around?"

i almost pooped my pants.

of course i would be around to meet john waters. that is what i flew cross country for.

so the mr. john waters got on stage and talked for a long time. and it was weird and amazing. he just tells stories. it is like he is talking to his buddies. i liked that. and when he was done he hugged people and signed things and listened to people who had stuff to say to him. then he came up to me and told me he was glad i played the show. he told me he was a big fan. HE SEEMED AS NERVOUS TO MEET ME AS I WAS TO MEET HIM!!! and he invited me sean and bibbe to go hang out after. and sean and bibbe turned out to be good friends with ian's wife from when they owned a cafe named troy in los angeles. so we all went to a bar on bleeker. and jack and regina met us there. i mostly just talked to jack and regina. then before john waters left he came up to me again and said he gives the moldy peaches album to all the teenagers he knows. and i told him jack was in the band too and he was so happy to meet jack. it was so cool. he is so nice!!!

then me and sean and bibbe took a taxi back to harlem and the taxi driver told me he would give me a ride to the airport. so i went to the airport at 3am and my flight was at 9. so i got some airport sleep. and some airplane sleep. and i got back to seattle yesterday.

and the best thing is MY FAMILY GOT A HOUSE!!!

it is big and brick and just two blocks from greenlake. and me and ange and akida and skyler and my mom and dad are all going to move in together on tuesday!!! it is so exciting.

so yeah. things are crazy.

that is why i am not having an off the sauce show this year. even though monday will be SEVEN YEARS!!!

if anyone in or around seattle has a van/truck and can help us move next week or loan us your vehicle i will make you cookies.

or if you have a bike you don't use that you want to sell me to give akida for christmas...

uh. okay.
