last night was the benefit for rock camp for girls. it was cool even though i was really tired. a lot of people told me they had never heard my music before and really liked it and got cds. i like playing for new people. one guy came to the merch table and told me he was in marketing and was asking me all these questions about money and how my profit margin is too slim with $5 shirts and stuff. it was really annoying. i kept explaining to him that first of all IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MONEY and i sell an assload of $5 shirts and so i actually end up with more money than if i had $10 shirts. and then people where the shirts and other people might be like who's that and maybe they will check out my music and then maybe they will email me and tell me they think i am a good person and that will make me happy. so in truth $5 t-shirts save my life. but this dude wasn't having it. he was really laying into me about how i need marketing help. and then he bought 4 tshirts at $5 apiece. what a nutjob. marketing schmarketing. that's what i hafta say about it. all the rock camp people are awesome and they said the brooklyn rock camp will not be at the same time as the portland one. so i can volunteer at both. exciting!
after my show i went downstairs to the old office for the "hang the d.j." thing. i d.j.d for 30 minutes and it was really fun. i learned how to use the d.j. crap. i played cds and 45s and it was fun! i think i am going to do it next sunday too. it is like open mic mix tape night. you bring your music and go sign up and you can play whatever you want! woohoo! i played dashel and plentyface and prewar yardsale and ghost mice and the rickets and sarah vaughn and the butchies and shangri-las and eric carmen. it is free to go hang out there. good sunday fun. then i drove home and i talked to jeff gardiner on the phone. he is one of my best boys. then i sleeped. now i am going to go paint. xoxo
