"artists on the bill include The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello of AudioSlave and Rage Against the Machine) Michael Franti and Spearhead, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Boots Riley of the Coup, The Naked Trucker, Outernational and a very special surprise guest."
so this is the description of the show i just got home from. it was at the knitting factory and it was very very good. i kinda dorked out and farted around giving cds to all the people who played. but i am a dork. i knew the one guy was familiar but i didn't realize he was system of a down guy. hmm. i think they all probably thought i was a lame-o. the spearhead set was so beautiful i almost cried. and the guy from the coup was so great. he had a song for his daughter that was phenomenal.
i am so tired.
i did that interview for spin today. the guy was really nice. then maikki came by and we went out for coffee. then i went with her to visit johnny's grave. it is still a fresh grave. just a big pile of dirt and no headstone yet. she and i just sat in the grass and she told me stories about how hard things got as he got sicker and sicker. she told me about how they met and how it was love at first site. she talked about their horses and about how now the theme from titanic makes her cry. she talked about how is she is sad mary lost her daddy at 6 years old. it is really sad. then i went to the show. thank you robert and yalan for smuggling me in.
now i am so tired. i almost ate only raw food today. but someone brought a raspberry pie home from the apple orchard and i had to have a piece.
i am really excited for my show tomorrow. lots of getting ready to do in the morn.
after spearhead played, michael franti hugged everyone in the audience.
good job.

12:14p - oh and...
the special guest at the show last night was steve earle.
michael moore was supposed to host the show but he never showed up. i am kinda glad. i woulda spent the whole night trying to figure out how i was going to pat him on the back rather than paying attention to a shitload of other people that i would want to pat on the back by the end of the night.
and check this out...
