| During sex.. |
[Aug. 22nd, 2008|01:17 am] |
This is such an uncomfortable question for me but I'm sick of waiting to find someone who has the same exact problem (seems to be no one else.)
But during sex lately, I've been increasingly aware of my bowel, I kind of feel the constant urge to poo. It does not stop and the more i am aware of it, the worse it gets. This has become even worse... Even now just touching my clit or vagina makes me feel as if I need to go to the toilet. But I DON'T and that is the most frustrating thing, after sex or masturbation, whatever, I don't actually need to go to the toilet..
What is going on? I'm so sick of this. |

| Pregnancy prevention myths |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|10:09 am] |
Hello VPers!
I'm a women's studies and creative writing double major entering my senior year of undergrad. I'm working on some poems for my year-long writing project, and I need your help.
I have an idea that has to do with myths and urban legends about how to prevent pregnancy, like jumping up and down after sex or drinking bleach. However absurd, dumb, dangerous, or strange it is (and the stranger, the better), I'd like to know the myths and rituals that you've all heard about preventing pregnancy. They can be things you heard in high school sex ed. or from friends or random things you know about what people thought and did in past centuries. Anything anyone can contribute will be of help.
Thank you all in advance! :) |

| | curious | ] | It appears that with the lack of any major "hardcore" games from Nintendo themselves, they've deliberately taken a back seat to third party developers. Sure E3 was a total bust, but I think Nintendo deserves a break considering we got new Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros., and Mario Kart titles since the Wii launched. With that said I'm curious to know which of the following third-party, Wii exclusive games you're anticipating the most.
Poll #1245767

| Incontinence, praise, hormones and bumps |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|04:40 am] |
I made it (close enough to) a week without asking you a question, vaginapagina =o I am improving.
First question: I've had bladder issues since I was little, for no real reason. Wetting the bed, peeing my pants, things like that. Now that I'm older, it rarely happens, but I do still occasionally wake up to a wet bed. I don't currently take anything for it, as it's such a rare occurrence, and is easy enough to clean up (rubber backed sheets are pretty awesome). The thing is, while I'm ok with dealing with it, it's still embarrassing. I'm not really sure how to broach that with any future partners. So far, it's only ever happened once and my reaction was basically "can we never talk about this? ;-;" I find talking about herpes far easier than this.
Second question: In the last couple months I've gotten two bumps in my pubic area. At first, I assumed an ingrown hair, or a clogged pore, or something similar, but then they kinda changed. Got hard, painful, and developed a head, but would not pop. The first one has left a scar, and when the second one popped, it oozed blood and some kind of puss. I think it's still healing and it's been a couple weeks. Any thoughts as to what they are? They're rather small, about a centimeter in diameter.
Third: For the last two or two and a half years, my body has been messed up. My periods have changed significantly, and the symptoms I get prior to and during it are far more extreme than they used to be (that that they're really bad, just...not nice like they used to be). I'm 22, and I had an abortion a little over three years ago (it was kind of between the first and second semester, I no longer remember how far I was along, just that it was close the cut off, and afterwards I lactated a bit for a few months). Is my body changing because I'm older, or could being pregnant have affected my hormones more permanently?
Praise: I love vaginapagina. It's incredibly nice to be able to talk about herpes without feeling embarrassed or ashamed in any way, and help people through my experiences with it. <3 I nearly cried the other day, it felt so good. |

| Threesomes |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|04:36 am] |
My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 6 years (almost! Then I can start saying "almost 7 years!" Yeesh) and we've had a few threesomes. One was a little more than three years ago, and we went our separate ways with that girl unfortunately, mostly because my girlfriends' and her personalities did not...mesh. We recently had another (a couple of months ago) with one of her friends from college who is "straight" but wanted to experiment. As I understand it they were never really CLOSE friends so I can't really say if the occurrence caused any rifts in the friendship.
So far so good right?
I guess I'm just wondering what everyone thinks personally about threesomes. Most people I talk to tell me they're not for them because they'd be too jealous, etc. I'm curious if you can think that but still support another couple's decision to pursue them? We don't do the random encounter thing, too scary. It's only ever with people we know well.
And because it's virtually impossible to find women in Louisville, Kentucky interested in a lesbian threesome (or 4+...trust me I wouldn't object.) Or I'm just not looking in the right places. D=
So, thoughts? Have you and yours tried it? Etc.
Thanks, ladies. |

Hello, I'm new to the whole piercing thing and I just recently got my lip pierced in the very center. I read all the FAQs, but didn't see anything on this (nor in internet searches).
My lip was pierced with a ring instead of a stud or whatever the terminology is. The ring is large enough for swelling so there's no worries about that, so far I'm basically fine.
My problem is that my lips are getting so incredibly dry! I live in Alaska so the weather is already cold and dry enough (very dry climate) without being able to lick my lips/rub them together with chappy. Obviously I can't rub my lips together with a large ring between, especially while it's still healing.
The ring doesn't go through my actual lip, so I have been applying chapstick but it doesn't seem to be enough, nor does drinking 40 oz. of water.
Does anyone have any other recommendations? I don't want to infect the piercing, but my lips are practically bleeding from how dry they're getting, and after applying so much Burts Bees I can practically scrape a white film of dead skin and wax off my lips (eew).
For reference I've had it for just three days. :P
Thanks! |

| Yeast Infection - To Canesten or not to canesten |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|04:03 pm] |
Hey Guys,
I can't tell you how awesome this community is, I was gushing to my doctor about today.
So i went for a pap smear today and was told i have a slight yeast infection, I already had this suspicion, but I thought i had dealt with it and have been taking Inner Health Plus (Acidophilus) and earlier this week took one of the one dose over the counter tablets earlier this week. The doctor suggested I take the six day canesten but I"m concerned I might be creating a nasty strain thats drug resistant if i do this. The Inner Health Plus tablets have worked in the past and I only took the otc tablet as i was doing two 5 hour drives and wasn't in a position to take the other tablets with me and keep them refrigerated.
In terms of there still being YI present, i have slight itching but nothing too bad and a little bit of discharge, but am not in any real discomfort.
She tested me for BV and a YI and the test results wont be in until Monday, so I'm thinking maybe It would be worth holding off until Monday (if it doesn't get any worse) so i'm not hitting my body up with drugs it doesn't need.
Thoughts? Experiences?
Thanks in advance! |

| cervical inflammation, pain, and bleeding |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|10:32 pm] |
I'm posting on behalf of a friend, who's had quite a bit of cervical issues these past few weeks. Unfortunately, she still can't get in to see a gynecologist, and her primary doctor really has no clue what to do next. I was hoping her symptoms might jog a few insights here to pass along in the meanwhile. Any help would be appreciated!!
(And, for information's sake, she's a 23 year old female on HBC who is not pregnant, STD-free, and has no history of pretty much anything.)
- Approximately two weeks, she started bleeding rather heavily during vaginal intercourse. She felt sore that night, and woke up with light cramps the next day. The bleeding continued for a few days, so she went to the doctor to get it checked out (as she was in the middle of her cycle).
- Her doctor found that her cervix was inflamed and bleeding. He ran a few blood tests to check for STDs, and nothing came up. He also put her on a high dose antibiotic hoping to knock out whatever was going on.
- A week later, the bleeding stopped, but the cramps were getting more and more intense and she also developed a low grade fever. The antibiotics did nothing, and the blood tests came back negative. Her doctor decided to check for Pelvic Inflammatory Disease -- which was negative. They gave her the treatment shot anyway as a precaution, and put her on another round of antibiotics (which still has had no effect).
- Two days after this, the cramps got so bad she went into the ER. They did two pelvic scans. Nothing showed up. The pain has been getting progressively worse each day, and they can't figure out what the heck is going on. She still has a low fever.
So now the doctor's talking about doing exploratory surgery to figure out what on earth is up with her, which she's feeling unsure about. She really needs to get into a gyno, but unfortunately all the ones in her area can't take her for another week or two. I suggested just going into a Planned Parenthood, but they're also booked up about a month in advance, and she doesn't have any sick leave or vacation time to take off work and do a walk in.
So.. I come to you, LJ! Any thoughts or suggestions? Have you ever heard of anything like this? Poor girl, she's kind of at her wits end. |

| crosby photo album - part 1 |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|05:33 pm] |
Found a whole stack of pictures left in a photo album tossed out for the trash in Crosby, Texas. It looks like it was taken at the Houston Zoo in the late 70s or early 80s. I can't shake the feeling that I know the couple or their children or something.
Written on the back: Mike and Terry, zoo day with Lee. |

| Sore breasts because of HBC? |
[Aug. 21st, 2008|12:18 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | sore | ] | So I've been taking Ortho-Cyclen since mid-May of this year, and while it's really thrown my entire body out of whack (I'm STILL getting nausea a lot and got a good bit of weight gain), I've never experienced breast/nipple pain. EVER. Right now, I have 10 active pills left, and for the past 2 or 3 days I've been having period-like cramps, and my boobs were a little sensitive...
But not nearly as sensitive as they are now! They're very sore and almost feel hot inside (it's difficult to explain but is a very weird feeling), and I can barely even touch them without pain. If this is due to the HBC, why has it started only now this far into it?
I became sexually active in June of this year, by the way. I couldn't be...um...pregnant, right? O_o I mean, I've been taking my pill around the same time every night. |

Not too long, I came across an article that hinted at the idea that having an orgasm prior to the start of the menstrual cycle can have an affect on the woman's menstrual flow. Does that hold any truth? |

| Irregular Periods/Pregnancy Test? |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|06:26 pm] |
Hi all!
Okay, so I have to admit, I suck at keeping track of my period. Well, at least until now. I have been racking my brain for weeks, but I cannot for the life of me remember what days I started my period at all. The only one I can recall is last month, July, and it started on the 24th. But I do remember that it came late because I thought I was pregnant. I have heard that the body can delay your period if you are under stress, which I was. I was about a week late. So, basically, other than the last two months, I haven't been keeping track of my periods. I do not know if I am irregular or not. My question is, when would I be able to take a pregnancy test? I don't know when to expect my period. If I based it on a 28 day cycle, it would technically be due today. But since I was late last month, is it not the same? I took one of those crappy dollar store HPTs today and it came out negative. Here are my stats: July 24th- Started period, about a week late. Which means it should have started on the 16th, I think. BTW, I am TTC. I had no idea when I would be ovulating, since I had been late the prior month. Had intercourse on 8/10, 8/11, 8/12, and 8/16. All the while, I had creamy, milky, lotion-like cervical mucus. I did not experience egg-white cervical mucus, but did refrain from checking my cervical mucus 48 hrs after each time we had sex, because his sperm was still present. So I technically could have had EWCM then. When should I be able to take a HPT? I'm all off schedule so I don't know :( Thanks for all your help ahead of time! |

LeRoi Moore 1961-2008
It's always easier to leave, than to be left - Dave Matthews
I'm sure there are more than a few of us here who hold a special place for the Dave Matthews Band. Needless to say it was a shock to hear last night that LeRoi passed away yesterday.
One of my and newdreams4me favorite local bands, Busted Stuff, has announced a special show in memory of LeRoi:
(from the Busted Stuff e-mail list)
We would like to have a special night dedicated in LeRoi's honor. Right now we are looking at having this special show on Friday September 12th at the Ellicott Manor located on 16 Ellicott Pl. (right next to PCB Piezotronics on Walden Ave.) The show starts at 9:00 p.m. We will be selling tickets (both 50/50 split AND door prize tickets) and all the proceeds will go to a memorial fund. |

| BV Treatment |
[Aug. 20th, 2008|04:47 pm] |
Hi.. Again. (Sorry for filling this comm with BV-after-BV posts.)
Anyway-
I called my PCP yesterday. I don't mean to rant about it, but I am so angered by her lack of empathy, I have to share. "Why are you calling here with your VAGINAL problems? There are more serious problems than smelly vaginas." YES- her EXACT words. She had me in tears. Regardless, she said because I had just been tested in May for other STDs/STIs, it's likely my "smelly vagina" is due to be BV and she called me in an antibiotic for Metronidazole- 4 pills, which I am to take as a single dose (all at once). I find it odd because prior, she'd give me a regimen of 1 pill, twice a day x 7 days.
I also bought Boric Acid. I actually ordered it through my pharmacy 'cause they didn't carry it on the shelf except for the kind used to kill cock roaches and whatnot. So is this one safe? 4oz bottle, Humco(TM) - "Household Farm" brand. Can I use that in conjunction with the antibiotic? Dilute one teaspoon to one cup of warm water, yes. But what should I feel down below once injected? Will it be normal to feel burning? And how many times do I use daily/weekly/monthly to rid of BV?
As always, lovely women of VP- THANK YOU!!!
Edit: As always, lovely PEOPLE of VP- THANK YOU!!! |

| Problems with sex |

| | embarrassed | ] |
Well, obviously this is a new account I made just to post here, I'm sorry if I'm doing anything wrong I've never actually posted in a community before D: This problem is more related to my boyfriend's sexual health than my own I guess, so hopefully it's still allowed, if not delete away!
Well just for some background; my boyfriend and myself are both 18, we've been together for two and a half years, and I'm on the pill but we also use condoms. The problem would be that during the last year whenever we've had sex it probably hasn't lasted over five minutes once, my boyfriend always reaches orgasm really quickly. During the beginning of our relationship I'd say it usually lasted longer, I never really put much thought into it since we were both virgins when we met and we're both still young; so it could be that? But it's getting frustrating for the both of us, I know it really bothers him so I never say much about it because I don't want to make him upset. What I'm asking really is if there's anything we can do to help make sex last longer?
Again sorry if I've made any mistakes posting this! |
