November 11th, 2007
05:24 pm - Soon..... I've just looked back in my journal - it was May 27th 2005 when the news broke on the internet that new Futurama episodes were being made. I remember how far away late 2007 sounded back then. Now, two and a half years later, the first of 4 DVDs is about to be released.
I'm not sure if anyone else is interested (it is entirely possible that only I am excited by this), but I will be watching the DVD on Friday 30th November, from about 7pm. As is traditional, beer and pizza will be consumed. If you want to join me, let me know and I will save you a space on the sofa.
If people want to make a sad booze-filled night of it, there have been some amazing episodes of other cartoons as well recently. The Family Guy "Blue Harvest" special retold the story of Star Wars IV from beginning to end with Family Guy characters. Also, the South Park "Imaginationland" trilogy was as fucked up and brilliant as that series has ever been.
Comment and let me know!

11:40 pm - Free stuff Hello all. I got two free tickets to see Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" at Vue Leeds Light this Sunday morning at 10am. Unfortunately, Jo can't go as she has to run a fair trade stall. Does anyone else fancy going with me?

05:29 pm - All done! First of all, sorry about not finishing the building work blog. If you read my previous entry, you've probably worked out why that fell by the wayside. I did continue to take pictures however, and I'll probably post them all up over the weekend. It's all done now - the builders finished last week. Next job - decorating!
(By the way, OFSTED was a lot of stress for nothing. They saw 15 minutes of a sixth form lesson and rated it "good".)
Anyway, on another topic, in all the excitement about Futurama returning (the DVD is released on Tuesday 27th November, so keep Friday 30th November free) I somehow completely missed the fact that two of my other favourite programs are being revived:
Farscape
Dead Like Me
Goodness me, what's next? (please please please more Spaced.)

04:27 pm - Birthday UPDATE! It seems that having an LEA observation (which went fine), and having to prepare for an interview justifying my existence tomorrow wasn't enough for one birthday.
OFSTED rang today - they're coming in Monday and Tuesday next week.
Yarr!

08:00 pm - You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake... I just thought I'd share the birthday cards I received from my parents.

Just in case my shoddy camerawork has killed the irony, the card reads "Son, on your birthday remember .... you're one of a kind." If they had planned it, it would be hilarious, but they clearly didn't. (they haven't spoken for twenty years)
I'm sure I would be having a great time tomorrow, if not for the fact that the LEA decided my birthday would be an excellent time to come into school to observe the maths department. I also have a two hour interview the day after with the Education Leeds school adviser, so I can show him what I am doing in my new intervention role.
I'm sure I'll be fine with all of it, it's just a shed load of work :-(
More building pictures soon!
