My Newest Project

Okay guys many of you know i'm famous for starting things i don't finish but this time i'm for real.

I was at the Angelos last night for dinner and Mark was telling us how he went to Uganda, i believe. there's an orphan's school there that he visited. there are a lot of kids there that have all either lost their parents to aids or war. These kids have like, nothing, and mark was saying how there isn't much we can do except send money, which got me thinking, because i always like to think of other options. I came up with this:

In summer or winter break 2007, I want to go to this orphans school with maybe two or three more people and do about a two week art camp.

We'll need air fare, accomadation, food, shots, and some basic art supplies. I don't know how many art supplies we'll need, it depends on the number of kids there, which closer to that summer I'll have to check with the school. I'll also have to contact the school at some point, when it's fairly certain that we ARE coming.

In order to make this happen we'll need money, and a lot of it. I'll bet we can get discount air fares if not through connections our school has, through british airways if i write a letter to tell them what we're doing. According to Mark they fly right to Entebbe. We'll need to findraise though. I bet we can get a lot through fundraising for the school, but we might need some outside of school fundraising going on. I'll open up a bank account as soon as we start fundraising.

This could be the event of these kid's LIVES, and an amazing experience for the people teaching them art. to be able to meet and connect with all these kids would be just incredible.

so yeah if you guys have any ideas about fundraising for such an event, comment or something. I'm completely serious about this.

so shan had some ideas on the way home from feild hockey. we should do like, a drive for anything we could take with us for them too, and maybe the project would be painting a mural if they've got a suitable wall. we could drive for board games and clothes and stuff...stuff we take for granted that we don't use as much that they would probably think was a gift from heaven.
