saw this posted on FB. nice nice NICE!
i'm so glad that when Christ was born, God sent His angels to shepherds to proclaim the good news. shepherds, who were the poorest in the agricultural system. shepherds, who were so poor, that they had to work night shift.
i'm so glad that Christ wasn't born in a palace, or even a mansion, or even a proper home. i'm so glad that He was born in a manger. it sounds wrong, but i'm also glad that when Christ was born, the first smell that reached His nose was the smell of probably horses' dung. i'm so glad that he was wrapped in swaddling cloths, not with silk or other haughty and expensive materials.
because to me, it shows that the poor has a special place in God's heart. Christ identifies with the poor. and to quote that Bono guy, God is with the poor. and God is with us if we're with them.
Psalm 72:
For He will deliver the needy when he cries,
The poor also, and him who has no helper.
He will spare the poor and needy,
And will save the souls of the needy.
He will redeem their life from oppression and violence;
And precious shall be their blood in His sight.
