I find Etsy frustrating to navigate because I'm never looking for anything specific and all their little widgets to gather interesting items together are done in Flash, which pisses me off, so instead I decided to randomly search for dinnosaur-related items. Sadly, most of them are for the kiddies — does no one think adults love dinosaurs? Really? Fail. Some favourite items: Also, you know what makes me really sad? The thought that 175 years ago, no one knew that dinosaurs (as we know them) ever existed. It freaking blows my mind to think of a world without dinosaurs. Obviously these poor people had no idea what they were missing, but it still makes me sad for them. :(

Gary -- Lt. Gordon
So I finally saw The Dark Knight with [info]amazingaudrey. We tried to see it on IMAX but the 7pm showing was sold out, so we had to see a regular screening at 7:30pm instead. cut for spoilers )

I got back from a four-day weekend without internet yesterday so I missed everyone's posts. Link me to your review if you've got one. Merci!

Everyone loves the new Gary Oldman movie!

Gary -- Lt. Gordon
This is the reason one should never, ever trust the IMDB Top 250 movies list:

I know these things tend to drop after a few weeks (and often drop off the list all together), but come on. GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME! For real.

I haven't seen it yet but am planning on checking it out on IMAX tomorrow, so no spoilers plz.

ETA Stuff about the new Gary movie (with the best Photoshop job ever).
Leo -- Titanic -- Lake Wissota
I was beginning to feel like Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards was like the will-probably-never-see-the-light-of-day Guns n' Roses album Chinese Democracy, but it keeps popping up in the news lately with all sorts of high-profile names attached to it. While I will always go see a Tarantino film for the sake of seeing a Tarantino film, the current casting speculation revolving around Leonardo DiCaprio increases the likelihood of my seeing this. In fact, there's an amazing headline about it that reads Tarantino to DiCaprio: ‘Don't Be Stupid, Be a Smarty, Come and Join the Nazi Party!’.
The role? Nazi Colonel Hans Landa, a.k.a. the "Jew Hunter," the movie's chief villain. Will DiCaprio accept the part? Can he speak fluent French, German, and Italian, as the screenplay requires? Most important, how will DiCaprio's Nazitude compare to fellow box-office titan Tom Cruise's in Valkyrie? Will Leo be meaner? More Teutonic? Will he speak in a thicker accent? Will he wear two eye patches? We can't wait to find out!
I like "more Teutonic" as a personality modifier, I really do. Also, Leo already speaks fluent German, doesn't he?

ETA LOL NY Mag has a tag called nazi leonardo dicaprio. If he ends up in this film, I am totally changing my Leo tag to that. It will be a brother tag to "crazy gary oldman".
Misc -- WTF
I have no idea what this Dr. Horrible stuff is, other than something that makes it a lot easier to read my flist at the end of a long day.

ETA Here's a brief and interesting article on the shortage of Number Fours at gas stations.
