I like the way the Chinese think: celebrating the new year by throwing things on the ground that make a loud popping noise! In fact, there's six boxes of Chinese new year fun in my drawer.

this used to be a space

So today at lunch, my friend's friend brought a friend. And he started wanting to discuss religion and "save" my friend and I. That aside -- the anger after I left the table felt great, in a way. I called someone and while walking home, had like three mindblowing moments where I'd just want to stop in my tracks as the realization of what I just really said sunk in. And I was ranting without really letting the other person get a word in. The anger though felt like a movement, like instead of getting excited over reading about history and art history, I could actually do something with my anger.

Okay, it sounds like I just talked myself into going into political science instead of being a history major. Too late now though, eh?

Does anyone remember this song?

Today I found out that Reuben originally meant "Jacob's first born son." My middle name is Reuben and my father's name is Jacob. But ... I'm not his firstborn. Did my parents think that putting it as my middle name would somehow cancel out "first born"?

I want to own a dog or cat. Maybe a rooster. I don't know if my apartment allows animals, though.

If I had to take the bus every day, I would be thisclose to chugging Drano.

Not to further the Jewish stereotype or anything, but man, I love Noah's Bagels.

I miss Happy Happy Happy Man. He used to stand on Telegraph and Bancroft, repeatedly saying, "Happy happy happy ... this is not a joke." When I saw him there, it was like I knew the world would spin forever. Then he left, and I can't poetically write about him anymore.

Today I bought some gummi dinosaurs at the Bear Market (which is an insane place right now, all the freshman trying to use up their points). My friend, wickeddescent, happens to have a pretty unreasonable obsesseion with gummi bears. In retaliation to my getting gummi dinosaurs and not gummi bears, he just ... ate them all. Asshole. I hope he knows he ate wax.

i had lots of salsa y chip-os today

so ... livejournal. this should be interesting!

it was really cold today. but, i like it. it's rather refreshing. i heard it'll be raining all week.

my family's trying to figure out what to do over holiday. maybe i'll just stay here? mom'll probably want me home for hanukkah. i don't know why though, we barely do what we're supposed to all year. we probably just celebrate hanukkah the most so we don't feel left out of the whole holiday fun.

i went to subway today for lunch and finally after these two and a half years, got to see a bum argue with a worker. he was all yelling about how his coffee was cold and how it was because he was black and poor-looking. man, great fun to watch.

they never seem to hear me when i ask for extra cheese.

ps:

Word of the Day for Sunday December 4, 2005

gaucherie \goh-shuh-REE\, noun:
1. A socially awkward or tactless act.
2. Lack of tact; boorishness; awkwardness.
