do not trust this man
It's amazing what I can get done with my computer time when I quit playing RO. Actually, it's kinda embarrassing. I stopped playing towards the end of February, and since then both eternalmoon and Kaoru's fanlisting have received new layouts, and Infinity has been revamped and moved. *\o/* The husband keeps trying to lure me back to RO, but I'm enjoying all this free computer time (and renewed inspiration) too much to go back. I will be strong. Hopefully. :D

I feel like I spent most of the month at the veterinarian's office. Eldest cat was back and forth and back and forth getting bloodwork to monitor his thyroid problem, and the pup goes in on Friday for an exam and full bloodwork since her wet food was on the recall list. LOVELY. She's not showing any symptoms, and we don't know for sure if she ever got any of the tainted food, but she was on it all through their recall dates and we're not too far from one of Menu Foods' plants, so we and the vet felt better safe than sorry. Ugh. They can probably dedicate a new wing on their building to us after all these trips. *L*

First and foremost:

I'm going to be an aunt again!!!!!!! *happy dance* Ginormous congrats to my sister and her husband, and to my adorable niece Alex who gets to be a big sister. Yay!

Second and less interesting, I finished the Ouran TV series and it kinda broke my brain. Spoilers under the cut if you haven't seen the very end of the series. )

Finally ~ I set up a Collectica account, and actually managed to finally scan, organize and post the huge pile of doujinshi I had gathering dust on my scanner. Woot! Here they are! I'm eventually going to put up my manga and artbooks as well, but I think I have some tweaking left to do with the doujinshi first.

*lightbulb*
So, I was pissy and under the weather not to mention bored this past weekend, and I was in desperate need of something to cheer me up. A couple months ago I started following the Ouran Host Club manga, so on a lark I decided to download a couple episodes of the anime and see if it was any good. Oh my god. It's brilliant. There were a couple points I had to pause for a minute because I was laughing too hard to keep up. XD

Tomorrow is a big nerd day around here; iRO gets the Hugel patch which brings Ninjas, Gunslingers and 2 new character slots YEY. Ty and I are both going to try out Ninjas, he's making a spell-based ninja, I'm making a dagger/kunai one. Should (hopefully) be interesting. Tomorrow night is the 2 hour Mythbusters Pirate Extravaganza, which looks to be made of win and awesome. I've been looking forward to it since they announced it. *bounces*

that's awesome!
Bwahahaha. My day, she is made! Custom-painted My Little Ponies, in the style of Reboot characters. Glitch!Bob, Hex and Daemon. No Dot, but still, AWESOME. Especially the Bob one. XD

From the "life in the great suburban outback is certainly fraught with peril" file: Ryan and I were outside with Lynnie and a FOX trotted into our neighbor's yard. Keeping in mind I live in the 'burbiest of suburbs, this was a bit of a surprise. Ryan, the fox and I all went O___O at each other, then the fox took off like a shot. Lynnie, the beagle, a foxhunting breed, noticed nothing. Well done Lynnie! XD

Black Friday brought out the delight of the neighborhood - our neighbor's crazy-ass Christmas display. I need to get a good picture of the mess, because it's... well, it's something all right.

My turn ~

Kaoru lulz
1) Grab the nearest book.
2) Open the book to page 123.
3) Find the fifth sentence.
4) Post the text of the next four sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5) Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet. Just pick up whatever is closest.
6) Tag five people.

The closest book seems appropriate, seeing who ([info]mebelle) tagged me :D

Drums of Autumn, by Diana Gabaldon:

"The trouble is damped down but not settled," Jamie said, shrugging. "And damp powder might smolder for a long time, Sassenach, but once it catches, it goes off with an almighty bang."
Would Tryon think it worth the investment, to buy the loyalty and obligation of an experienced soldier, himself in turn commanding the loyalty and service of the men under his sponsorship, all settled in a remote and troublesome area of the colony?
I would myself have called the prospect cheap, at the cost of a hundred pounds and a few measly acres of the King's land.

I may be cheating slightly, there were a couple closer books that are still on the "to be read" list and I didn't want to crack 'em open and potentially spoil myself. :p I'm not going to bother tagging since I think pretty much all of my friends list has either done this already or is in the process of doing it. ^__^

OMFG!
Last night, before I went to bed I was reading a collection of short stories by Tanya Huff. The last story I read before I turned off the light was about a thief who steals the holy symbol of a lesser god, and she has the Murphy's Law day from hell until she returns said artifact. From the day I'm having, I have to wonder if there's not some sort of residual effect going on. Cuz seriously, what the hell. How many trashcans can one medium-sized dog discover and destroy? -______-

A decent-sized portion of the bizarre-ness was because of said dog. Thank god our one-on-one appointment with the trainer is tomorrow, because Lynnie gets more neurotic by the second. I have three cats, they have enough contained neuroses, I don't need a crazy dog too. Ugh.

GLEE!
Now granted, I'm probably the last person on the face of the earth to hear about this (hell, I just read the book 2 weeks ago, I'm definitely behind the times), but seeing this filled me with squee:

ER... HO. HO. HO.

I think my husband now regrets being able to use Y!IM at work, because I've been sending him pictures and nitpicking, and he only has the vaguest idea of what I'm talking about since he's still working through Mort. Poor Ty.

so sleepy
Jeebus. My kingdom for a good night's sleep. Hell, my kingdom for a decent night's sleep. Or a so-so night's sleep. Urgh.

S'anyway, Lightning's pretty much done. Tada!

Ryan's the first member. It only seemed appropriate. ^__^ I still have some things to tweak, but it's ready for members. Y'no, members that aren't part of my immediate family.

So, today's the big day; Ryan's first day of preschool and Ty's first day at the new job. Hooray for life returning to some semblance of normal! Well, except for the fact that Brendan's coughing his lungs out so we kept him home from school. Two weeks into third grade, and he's already sick. Yaaaay. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for him this year.
