I have, as an alternative to spending a truly obscene amount of money on a new camera (although I know I will eventually), been playing with my current one. after a bit of inspiration from a photography thread on the badscience forums, I got myself a particularly shoddy pocket tripod from jessops and a demo of the rather wonderful autostitch program. I still need to have a play with the options, but basically it is like a panorama maker thing but completely automated. the picture below was made from 19 individual shots - perhaps more than necessary, but all you have to do is select the images you want to use and let it go to work. the only thing I did to it was a quick crop in photoshop. and considering it was done on my rapidly-ageing camera, at night, without flash, I'm impressed. and feeling rather creative.
