something for kate, barwon heads hotel 14/10/06 [Oct. 15th, 2006|02:15 pm]
[mood | tired]

Just got home from Barwon Heads after seeing SFK last night.
The gig's gone straight to #2 all-time gig (just behind PJ Harvey at the Forum) - we were right at the front, just in front of Steph. And when Adrian went to the loo during their set, no one moved into his spot and when he came back people were saying "He's back, let him through". Bizarre. What a good crowd!

I had my eye on Steph's set-list all night and then someone else got it. D'oh! Then we asked the bouncer to get Paul's and he just shrugged, and someone else got that too. Bastards!

I walked right past Steph sitting at a table when we were having dinner and later saw Paul standing next to the bar watching the support act, and on both occasions was too scared to ask for a photo! Man. I suck.

Set-list:

California
Oh Kamikaze
Three Dimensions
Say Something
Anchorman
Deja Vu
Down The Garden Path
Cigarettes & Suitcases
Transparanoia
Whatever You Want
Monsters
Stunt Show (Paul solo)
Rock The Casbah
Pinstripe
Captain
_____

Statues
Electricity

Can't complain about that!

Aside from the complete lack of organisation on behalf of the venue, it was a bloody great night.

Other than that, Barwon Heads was lovely, we stayed in a unit that smelled like my grandma's house, but they gave us a complimentary packet of Tim Tams.

I'm sleepy now.

I got some good photos, will put them up soon.

dear grand final day, i love you. [Sep. 29th, 2006|06:49 pm]
[mood | excited]

Well, I already wrote this on myspace so I'll just copy/paste:

Friday night I went to go see Something For Kate at the Forum, but it didn't go so well. I'd been looking forward to it for months and then we got there, and I couldn't be bothered fighting the crowds for a spot up the front. And SFK fans are really tall, so if you weren't up the front you couldn't see anything from the floor. However, we found the perfect spot, just behind the first little balcony-thing, next to the sound desk -we had a table to put our drinks on and everything! So after an hour of waiting SFK finally came out with their pretty lights show and Paul looking hotter than ever, and them sounding better than ever because in my opinion, the sound at The Forum can't be beaten! They started off with California and I had a smile on my face when.... all of a sudden this sound started to penetrate my ears... I turned around to see three guys chatting away, NOT EVEN FACING THE FUCKING BAND! Loudly, I might add. I couldn't hear the band properly. I started getting mad. I shot them some dirty looks which they smirked at, then talked louder! I figured there was no point saying anything to them, because they probably would've either punched me or just laughed at me and told me to fuck off.

I was fuming by this stage so I grabbed Adrian and said "WE'RE MOVING!". We went down to the floor, but naturally encountered the problems stated above. Seriously, SFK fans - tallest people in Melbourne, I swear. Except for me.

So we moved back up the stairs and found a spot just in the doorway of the bar entrance, but of course people just constantly went up and down the stairs (which blocked the view), and came in and out of the bar. I was so annoyed and disappointed that I said I just wanted to go, cause I wasn't having a good time at all. But then we moved around and found a spot that was near where we started, but a bit further away from the evil motherfucker drunk talking cunts - they'd taken our spot mind you, right at the front of that bit, to TURN AROUND AND CONTINUE TALKING. I couldn't hear them though, so it was good. I was almost starting to enjoy myself again when everyone near those guys started moving away from them (understandably)... all of a sudden they were in earshot again.

So, we left pretty much straight after that. I probably sound like a sook but I'm not all that emotionally stable these days... ;)
Seriously though, those motherfuckers ruined my night, and I fucking hate them. Why would you buy tickets to a show to talk through it and not even look at the band?! I seriously don't get it. CUNTS. ARGH.

Yeah, wack yo.

BUT! I've just bought tickets to their Geelong show on the 14th, Adrian got that Saturday off work and we're gunna go down and stay the night :D
I'm so excited that I'll get to see this tour after all.

Major Major at the Rob Roy tonight, my favourite day of the year tomorrow - GRAND FINAL DAY! Go the Eagles! Except thinking about it reminds me that last year I was in a packed Balinese pub but STLL getting table service, where we had $1 bintangs delivered to us. Could you imagine going to a pub in Melbourne on Grand Final day and getting table service? It just wouldn't happen! Mmm, Bagus pub nasi goreng... anyway.

I haven't been drunk since my birthday, and I'm kind of scared of a repeat actually. That was ridiculous. I just get drunk so easily these days...
And then I remember Grand Final day 2003, where we started at the Deavon Meadows footy club breakfast, drunk by 9am, and drinking ALL DAY until about 2am the NEXT MORNING. And much of the beer was consumed via beer bongs. I could never hope to drink like that again. It's a day to remember (hazily), and be proud of.

[music |got all night long in me head cause it's me ringtone]

I got so drunk last night that I made Adrian pull over on the freeway on the way home so I could spew. But I didn't spew.
I did in my driveway though.

Damn jager bombs!

...and the bacardi I snuck out as a traveller...

Anyway, had a ball with the girls from work and Sandra - we've decided Europe in 2010, her me, Adrian and Dougie. It would be awesome if it didn't end up like the Sandra/Amy Europe plan for 2006.

Taryn told me she was going home and then rang Adrian 4 times asking him to pick her up while we were in bed... I didn't actually hear any of it cause I was well passed out but what the fuck? She knew the poor kid had to work today. Cunt.

OH YEAH!
Adrian gave me a silver slimline Playstation 2 with an Eye Toy!!!! :D :D
And got me the Eye Toy Kinetics program - the fitness one with a personal trainer. It's so awesome.

I think I'm still drunk.

Edit: I just asked Adrian if I made him stop on the freeway and he said "Yes, and if there was one pothole in 60kms of road, you found it! And I came around and you said "I fell down" and I said "Well that explains why you're lying on the ground then!"" Heh.

[music |sfk | the last minute]

Whoa, I can't believe how long it's been since I've updated!

Completely unintentional, I've been lurking I suppose, I read my friends page every morning.

Many things have been happening, and I have so many photos that I am yet to transfer from my camera!

But this week is one to mark in the old memory, as last Sunday (25th) was mine and Adrian's first anniversary - awww :)
And today is my 23rd birthday!
I feel olllllld.

Dee gave me an iPod FM transmitter/car charger - I've had two FM transmitters in the past, neither of which worked, but this one works perfectly. AND charges my iPod! I'm stoked. She's adorable, that girl.
I got an awesome handmade card from Jo that tells me I'm the skankiest skank ever, and I have box rot and I'm a whore. It's so nice to work with people as wrong as I am.

Got $250 and a hot pair of Nine West shoes from ma and pa - the $250 is towards a new digital camera (the Olympus waterproof one).

Adrian wouldn't give me my present this morning cause he hadn't found the "right card" yet. Aww, too cute.

Going to see Major Major tonight at the Public Bar, they are the band of which my friend Nick is the guitar player and I now work with the lead singer and they are awesome and if you are in the North Melbourne vicinity at around 9pm you should definitely check them out.

Anyhoo, I promise you a more substantial update sooner or later ;)

Love youse all!

hairs [May. 5th, 2006|02:26 pm]
[mood | bored]

My hairs, as of last Saturday:

(scuse the crappy phone picture)

Of course now I can't get it styled like it is there. Stupid hairdressers and their magical styling powers!

I am going home in one hour and it cannot come fast enough.

Barney had the lump removed on Tuesday, because they didn't get a big enough sample of it to diagnose it. We should get the results next week. He has no hair from his neck to halfway down his back, and the cut they made is huge, it's all stitched up and he has drainage tubes sticking out of him. They're getting taken out tonight. Poor thing.

On a lighter note, [info]tipoftheday has a great icon:

Hee. I love Frank.

[mood | hot]

Whoa.

So on this 40 degree Australia Day, I had to go to a pub in Upper Beaconsfield for my cousin's engagement "barbeque". It was just sposed to be a casual affair, there were wifebeaters and thongs everywhere (my cousin is from Pakenham, bogan country for the uneducated)...

Anyway, Cynthia (the girl my cousin is marrying) wasn't there yet when we got there, which I thought was weird, and then after a while we all got told to go outside. Must admit I was a bit suss when a limo rocked up and a girl in a white satin dress got out with a veil and a bouquet.

So we all got told to go around the back of the decking where some chairs and a make-shift aisle was set up. Yep, turns out it was a wedding!

It was weird. They only met a year ago. Actually that's why it was today, they met on Australia Day lat year. I still got all teary though, even though I'm not really close to David and had never met his now-wife before.

Such a bogan wedding though. David was wearing thongs (and now my dad won't shut up about how he wishes he could've got married in thongs), before the speeches they were waiting for the bridesmaid - someone said she was outside and the bride yells out "AWWW, IS SHE OUTSIDE SMOKIN' A DURRY?!" (cigarette in Boganspeak). Heh. Oh yeah, and Jacinta (another cousin, David's sister) had bought these beautiful champagne glasses for them to do their toast but they almost forgot it so she rushed the glasses over to them and they poured their pots of beer in. ALL CLASS.

Nice day though, plus I got to wear my pretty dress again - the one I wore to Kathryn & Trevor's wedding last year. I had rebel boob again (the one boob that just wants to escape). I kept catching my uncle staring at them which was kind of gross.

Bar tab, hot day and wedding and I'm sober! Fair effort! Drinking = me wanting to smoke. So I can't get drunk until I can have a couple without wanting to smoke.

Anyhoo, gotta go take some dvds back.

Ooh! I got given flowers yesterday, for no reason! They're beautiful - roses, half a peachy colour and the other half a creamy colour. I'm lucky :D

[mood | blank]

A friend of mine, Jess was diagnosed with cervical cancer in November - she was totally fine beforehand, it was discovered after a routine pap smear. It was so aggressive that chemo didn't work, and it spread to her lungs and spine.

She passed away last night.

She was 25.

What the fuck.

another year, another lj post [Jan. 9th, 2006|04:31 pm]
[mood | worried]

Hello kids!

Yes, I am alive - I moved house just before Christmas and still don't have the internet. And I only came back to work today.

I tried to catch up on my friends page this morning but I must admit, I skimmed (although I did go back 250 entries). So, I hope you all had Merry Christmases and Happy New Years.

My Christmas was enjoyable, family lunch with the Wodonga relos and Mr Dobson. He gave me the new Delta DVD, a Kelly Clarkson CD, Dr Karl's new book, "Dis Information - and Other Wikkid Myths", and Pop Culture Trivial Pursuit - DVD Edition. Score!

I also got a beautiful leather jewelry box, another pair of havaianas for the collection, a bag, a beaded necklace, a couple of canvases and some paintbrushes, money for my new bed, gift cards, I'm having a mental blank now.

So then we pissed off to Nelson Bay (near Newcastle) for a week, which was fun apart from the lack of air-conditioning in our apartments. I have a new saying: if it's too hot for sex, it's too hot!

Walked up Mt Tomaree twice and got some decent photos of the amazing view. I had to walk up twice because the first time we were in the clouds which wrecked the photos. I DID get to make out in the clouds though, which was kind of hot.

Some funny stories came from the trip, which included Absinthe, Ginseng Folk Liquor, tears, drunken swimming (to Phillip Island no less), "I'M AN ADULT!", "I'M PROBABLY THE BEST SWIMMER YOU KNOW", lost-but-recovered wallets, jumping off balconies and broken shower screens. And no, none of those things relate to me.

I'm over work already, but I got here at 8:30 this morning so I get to leave at 4:30 :D

And to waste time, I will do the belated 2005 meme:

meme'd )

Hometime!
