It was an amazing experience. We performed 3 times in 2 days (two 1-hour sets and a parade of ~2 miles), danced the nights away (and surely suffered partial hearing loss) at late-night jams, mingled/listened to/played with lots of the other fun bands. Honk! brought together 25 bands from all over the US and even from other countries (Chaotic Insurrection Ensemble from Montreal and Titubanda from Rome, Italy). On Monday I had to go back to work. It was difficult, and not just because I needed more sleep and relief for my very sore body. I so wanted to continue replaying the many moments of this adventurous weekend and continue to hear the brass bands in my head. At the same time I had no choice but to get dressed for work, get in the car, drive to the office, and get back to whatever it is that I get paid to do all day. It was a contradictory and almost painful experience.
Now that I wrote this post I feel a little bit better.
