Tax rebates are awesome!

My tax rebate came in! I feel so rich now! :-P I guess there's something cool about them taking it, holding on to it for you, and then giving it all back...Cuz you mold your life around how much you are actually given on pay day, but then suddenly you get this huge direct deposit into your bank account and it's like having extra money!

I was able to obtain Adobe Illustrator from Bill yesterday (YES!) so I recreated one of my figures as a .ps file and then annotated some arrows in and saved it as a .eps file. And it's true...the quality is a million times better than my .tiff file, so much so that now when I look at the old one I cringe!

I went to the library book sale today with Jenni, and met Marissa, Kate, and Feifei there. I got a college Biology book for $1!!! Why did I buy a biology book do you ask? Well for starters it was only $1...Also, I thought it would be nice to have in my private library of textbooks. Someday when I have kids they can page through it and look at the pretty pictures...Hey you never know! I got a few gambles, the COMPLETE works of William Shakespeare with illusrations, and Piercing the Darkness by Frank E. Peretti. I love that author! The books (the other in the sequal is This Present Darkness) are REALLY good so I'm glad I have a chance to read it again.

Afterwards Jenni and I drove all around the Palms area taking down apartment phone numbers so we can find prices and check them out next week. We did go to one open house--Oh lordy--it was GORGEOUS with Zen gardens, pools, gakoozies (NO idea how to spell that...), recreation room, work-out room, and the 1-bed 1-bath + 1 loft was really pretty too. I was expecting it to be well above $2000, but it was only $1800! Not that we are willing to pay that much, but hey, I was seriously tempted! If I was employed full time I think I'd go for it.

We also tried checking out the area between the 405 and Santa Monica, bounded by Wilshire Ave and Santa Monica Ave. Buuuut the area seemed really dirty and run down compared to Palms, plus Jennifer (different friend) said that Palms was cheaper in general...so we decided we'd just limit our search to there.

Tonight we are going to the Griffith's star party and then Yuri's Night, where I'll have the chance to bump into a couple NASA Academy friends!
