I'm the crying-on-the-inside kind of clown.
After 4 years of faithful service, my faithful laptop's hard drive spun it's last rotation on Saturday, March 29th. McAfee failed to catch a trojan virus of some sort that ate it up, and caused it to overclock until the motor or something burned out. In simpler terms, the magic elves in the Magic Elf Box died. Until I get something to replace it, my 'web presence' (cue new buzzterm) will shrink significantly. This is probably welcome news for most, with the exception of those who enjoy my forwarded poems, chain letters, money-making schemes and random pieces of porn. Thank you for your support in this time of darkness.

Yes, I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet.

    No, I don't care.

I am trying (kind of) to get ahead this year, planning early. I will be sending out Christmas cards to anyone who wants them. If you do, email me at Wilrobnson@gmail.com

If you're offended by the thought of a piece of paper with the word Christmas on it, don't email me and I won't send you one.

I don't care if you're not some sort of traditional Christian. Guess what? I'm not either. That has no bearing whatsoever on the fact I choose to send people who request them cards with the non-PC 'C' word on them. Grow up, only you can choose whether you're offended or not.

    Courtesy of the United Nations:

Self-defence is a widely recognized, yet legally proscribed, exception to the universal
duty to respect the right to life of others. Self-defence is a basis for exemption from criminal responsibility that can be raised by any State agent or non-State actor. Self-defence is sometimes designated as a “right”. There is inadequate legal support for such an interpretation. Self-defence is more properly characterized as a means of protecting the right to life and, as such, a basis for avoiding responsibility for violating the rights of another.

Am I reading this wrong, or are they not saying that self-defense is not a valid human right?

Quotes, because I was feeling deep.
Sometimes one creates a dynamic impression by saying something,
and sometimes one creates as significant an impression by remaining silent.

Through violence, you may 'solve' one problem, but you sow the seeds for another.

If the love within your mind is lost and you see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education or material comfort you have, only suffering and confusion will ensue.

Anything that contradicts experience and logic should be abandoned.

The ultimate authority must always rest with the individual's own reason and critical analysis.

So, the tendency of our childish nature is to take small things too seriously and get easily offended, whereas when we are confronted with situations which have long-term consequences, we tend to take things less seriously

So what, I have like 40 people on F-List, and I get 4 anonymous comments? And 2 gave themselves away?

    It's ANONYMOUS, you sissies!

C'mon, this is what the internet is all about! Slandering people anonymously!

    RIP, Chris
    Holy fucking shit.

    Chris LeDoux died today.

Fred-fucking-Durst is on the front page of Yahoo, suing someone over a sex tape of himself, and Chris LeDoux is dead.

    Un-fucking-believable.

For those of you who don't know who Chris LeDoux is, I'll just say this: He's the ONLY country music singer I've ever been able to actually like. I like every one of his songs that I've heard. I've begged, borrowed and stolen every one of his albums I could find, and have copies of more. Shit, I even have "Powder River", which no one else seems to have.

Chris' music was what originally inspired me to explore the West. I made many road trips across the western states, eventually falling in love with rural Wyoming, northwestern Colorado, and eastern Montana.
One regret I like to voice frequently- 'I should've been a cowboy.'

Chris LeDoux is what country music should sound like.

Need more proof Chris was a genius? Try these songs:

    County Fair
    Cadillac Cowboy
    Western Skies
    Johnson County War
    Hard Times
The Lady Is Dancing With Me

    and the best,

    Five Dollar Fine

If I was a little less on the macho side, I could actually cry.

    Political crap
And another thing that pisses me off!

I was reading over this other forum, and this 'girl' starts raving about communism. I say 'girl', because by her own admission she's 15. She raves about one person in particular, Dr. Ernesto 'Che' Guevera. How he did such a wonderful thing in working with good ol' boy Fidel to 'liberate' Cuba. How he was a credit to mankind, etc.

    Blech.

I replied and asked her if she knew the full story behind 'Che'? How he took personal responsibility for executing any and all that he and Fidel thought were spies, traitors, incompetent, lazy, or otherwise unacceptable? Or his tenure as the head of La Cabana prison, the place where he took up a personal interest in the torture of political prisoners? How about his involvement leading the cannabalistic 'Simbas' in the Congo?

He wasn't exactly the 'warm, fuzzy' type of revolutionary.

Ok, he may have had some interesting political ideas in the beginning (pre-1954), but when he became involved in Cuba in the late 50's (26th of July group), those just get overshadowed. I think the breaking of his Hippocratic oath when he finally picked up a gun in (1956?) just cements my distaste for him.

She replied that I am just speaking from a typically conservative, white male, racist viewpoint. About how I have no idea how 'Che' truly acted, having been spoon fed lies by the "govern-mental establihsment", the CIA, and, I shit you not, she actually wrote this, "the man". How he was a "Great man who was murdered illegaly by the CIA while trying to do good in south Amerika".

Sorry, wrong again. Guevera was executed in 1967 by order of Bolivian president Barrientos, after he was captured while trying to overthrow the Bolivian government. Would you expect any different?

Though I gotta admit my distaste for the Bolivians after what they did to Butch and Sundance.

Oh yeah, she's 15 years old.

The saddest part? I actually remember all of this information from my polysci report!

    You must answer!
So, I saw that Jenny has this on her LJ. I was going to tell her some good gossip I recently heard, but then I realized she knows none of the involved parties :(

Anyhow, here it is, and please, be kind! *ducks*

Post a confession, some gossip, or a random piece of information. Do it anonymously. I will ensure that the IP logging is turned off. C'mon... get something off your chest.

And another thing that torques me!

Buying stuff via the web and shipping to Alaska SUCKS!

I just tried to buy a portable ceramic heater. See, we have to rotate vehicles at work now, and I always get there late enough to get one that's been sitting in the cold for 16 hours or so. Not so bad in Washington or anywhere else in America, but here it sucks. I mean, it's not whining when the OSA temp is -20 or -30, is it? Shit. So I have to start the truck, and go in and out of the station loading it up...Radar, dashcam, digital camera, binos, PBT, remotes, my gear bag, shotgun, etc. It gets damn cold doing that, and the truck doesn't exactly warm up fast. It doesn't help that someone was apparently trying to be nice by cleaning the windows...I had quarter inch-thick ice on the inside of the windshield!

So I go to buy a 12-volt cig plug heater. I try one place, that wants 17 bucks for the heater. But when the website finds out where I live, well shit.

    $20 for shipping!!

So I went with a slightly more expensive heater ($25), but a place that only wants $6 for shipping.

    Grr.

Of course, to look on the bright side, if I'd bought it here in town at SBS or someplace it'd be like $50!

Man, I wish someone from LJ would crawl journals randomly. I was just doing that, and see SO MANY that could stand to be deleted. I mean, what's the point of taking up space with a journal that hasn't been used since 2003, and at that, with one entry that says "So Colin sez I should make a journal. Well here it is."???

And oh, the stupid kids in here.

My lord, am I cranky tonight?

I love this one: "What if I told you there is a way to AVOID these fines forever? 100% Guaranteed!"

    Yeah, stop at red lights?

"You will never be caught by red light cameras.."

Maybe not, but hopefully you'll be caught by a semi, or bus.
