12 reasons why gay people should not be allowed to get married.
1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control.
2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can't legally get married because the world needs more children.
3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful.
5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are property, blacks can't marry whites, and divorce is illegal.
6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities.
7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why single parents are forbidden to raise children.
11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven't adapted to things like cars or a longer lifespan.
12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a "separate but equal" institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will.

Gay marrriage
Have you ever thought of where this will stop?This issue was primarily driven because Gay's were denied the right to share their employment benefits (insurance, healthcare, etc..) provided by an employer) with their partner. Since they are not and cannot legaly share the same name, they do not and have not qualified.
The problem hear is more than just a moral one, (you need to be Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim for this one). If a law is passsed to allow Gays to marry one cannot, if you are a logical person, choose to base your decisions on logic. By "equal protection under the law you must now allow poligamists and communals to marry as well. (Multiple people all married to each other., 3,4,5...10 in a house and these can be all men, men and women, women and women, dogs, cats, ha ha.....). A law like this will set a precident. If you think that in our legal frenzied society that this will not spark court challenges like the one I just spoke of, you are nuts!
If Gays want the capability of a civil union to legally allow them to share employee benefits of take advantage of a tax breaks..etc, "ok". 80% of the people in this country, (smaller percentage but a majority throughout the rest of the world), believe in God or are Christian. A law which places the value and significance of gay marriage parralell to heterosexual marriage completely squelches one of their most sacred institutions. This union must not allow them to legally adopt children.
It is my opinion that you should read more on this subject and the potential for the long term serious societal effects on how we view relationships, raising of children, and decide if in another 30 or 40 years that that is what you want to be dealing with in America.

thats messed up homosexual should be able to get married because they are people too they have feelings like evryone else if you stab them they bleed too. If you hit them they cry too. Homosexual are just like everyone else and they should be able to marry no matter what ????????? Its your discision to get married not the governments so why should the governmnet decide on them they shouldn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Anonymous
