I have finally transferred the tape and posted most of the video of the C14 fashion show on YouTube.

I apologize in advance for the poor quality of the YouTube transmission; the actual video as played from the original looks soooooo much better. I'll try to find a way to upload the original somewhere for download.

Time to get the ball rolling! Down with ebay! [Aug. 20th, 2008|11:58 am]

[mood | determined]

Okay, lots of us here have a ton of gripes with ebay, but what to do about it?

What if we all started posting at www.gothicauctions.com and www.gothauctions.com again?

Both of these sites were good back in the day and they are still running.( I just found my old GA profiles from 1999!)
(lolssss  http://web.archive.org/web/20011205114651/gothicauctions.com/memberpage.cgi?memberpagedisp&Raveneve )

There were actually some pretty cute Ts and stuff up there for CHEAP.

I bet if we all just took a little time to post about them on  LJ  and myspace and started selling on them again we could help pump them back up.
Why not?
They are super affordable and are user friendly, unlike ebay.

Yes, they need traffic, but with lj community support  I bet we could get the ball rolling again on at least one of them.
I liked gothIC auctions better than goth auctions.
What do you think?

I am going to make a new profile and post some sale stock on gothic auctions today.

It could snowball!!!  I tell you!!! Snowball!!!!! Let's do it come on =)! But wont happen if we don't ALL contribute.
It is at least worth a try.
Pass it on!

Baron Von Goolo wants YOU! [Aug. 20th, 2008|01:30 am]

vampirefans

[goddessmikhail]
Is Halloween your favorite holiday? Or do you just get a huge kick out of
dressing up and scaring the holy h-e-double-hell out of people? Then you
might want to hang out at FrightTown this September and October.

The FrightTown haunted house is the biggest and scariest haunted house in
the whole Portland metro, and we'll be reopening our doors at the Portland
Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, October 4, for a whole new season of thrills
and screams. Not too many people realize that all that horror is actually a
non-profit production by the 1031 Community Theatre - and every year about
this time we look far and wide for the best and scariest new volunteers we
can find. We have positions for actors, set decorators, set builders, makeup
artists, costume designers and more, for every level of experience from rank
amateur to polished pro. And since we're a local non-profit arts collective,
if your school or company has some sort of community service requirement, we
can help you meet it by scaring the crap out of people. That's a good deal.

Preparations have already begun and we'll be starting Scare School training
soon. Go to 1031theatre.org or frighttown.com for more details, or if you
want to sign up, click on the banner below.

Happy Halloween!

Cemetery Cheese @ Forest Lawn [Aug. 20th, 2008|01:03 am]

[mood | I should really be asleep..]
[music |Autoclav1.1- All For You]

I think that if you're gonna do something as overdone as cemetery pictures, you should go big or go home. Why? Because everyone, their mother and their dead dog Sparky does it.

I never did cemetery photos. Most people do them when they're like 15 and feel the need to act ubergoth 24/7/365, but I guess I never got around to it. I made up for it at 25. I suppose I finally came across the right cemetery. When I first visited Forest Lawn in January of this past year(before I moved to the icy tundra that is Buffalo), I told my friends that I totally HAVE TO HAVE cheesy goth photos at Forest Lawn, because it's just perfect.

I'm so glad I did it now as opposed to at like 15 when being THE GOTHEST OF THEM ALL was one of my goals in life. When you're 15 "gothing is siris bidniss".

Photobucket

It is every Buffalo goth's rite of passage to take photos in Forest Lawn Cemetery. While in Rome.... )

Been lazy with posting new stuff lately.
I should fix that shortly...

I want to take a minute from the C14 EPIC (Sorry Carrie) afterglow to bitch for a second and warn you guys.

I don't know if any of you flew AirTran, to get to Tampa, but I'd like to warn everyone about their customer service. When I was checking in in Tampa I was left to stand there for 20 minutes and then got the rudest customer service I have ever received from an airline. I had to pay $99 to bring 2 extra suitcases on the plane, and got a lot of attitude from the people at the counter. My flight (like a lot of ours) was delayed from weather, and I had to change my connecting flight. My suitcases never made it home that night, and showed up the next day.

I just got off the phone with AirTran's #1 rated customer service department, who really didn't care, took 10 minutes on hold to file a complaint, and then offered me $25 off my next flight. Refused to transfer me to anyone else because I was talking to a supervisor already, refused to refund me the cost of having my bags not got on my plane, and refused to offer me anything other than that $25.

So I promised them that I would tell everyone I know to never fly them again. And here I am, doing just that. I have never received such bad customer service before, anywhere.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled *squeeeee*!

This costume was given to me and I had to make some adjustments since it wasn't a very stretchy fabric and I would have had to stand straight up with limited movement. A pack of velcro later, and lots of orange thread, I finished.

Ebay "The Swindle" part 2 [Aug. 18th, 2008|11:49 pm]

gothfash

[emily_stranger]
[mood | angry]

I am posting this on gothfash as a warning to other sellers and buyers to beware of ebay for yet another reason.
Also since a lot of us here have/ still purchase and sell a lot of things on ebay. I personally stopped selling my jewelry on ebay in 2004.

Here is my drama.

I am just noodling along on ebay last week and what do I see? I  see THIS mess.

It is a "test" auction for a haunted necklace from 1850 found in a French antique store that makes people feel like they are being choked when they wear it.

The only problem with that it is that they are using a photo of a necklace stolen from my website!  I still make this necklace!

I email the "seller" no response and no surprise there. So I post to the trust and saftey board... someone posts a link onto how to report image theft and they take my complaint down in literally 3 minuets!!! WHo the heck did that I wonder?

I then I try to report  the image theft... and the only way to do that is if my picture is from an "auction" I am running or have used on ebay.
That is to say you can steal any picture from the internet and use it on ebay without any way for people to report you but you can't steal an image from another ebay seller without fear of being reported.

So this leaves me with on more point. This was a test auction being preformed most likely by an ebay EMPLOYEE. So an ebay employee stole my image and used it without even thinking it was wrong? This is a multi-million dollar company that has makes more money in fees in a day than I make in 10 years of making jewelry... and they can't buy stock photos?

and finally, how the heck to I report this???

Things from Lip Service... do not fit me.
They do, however, have a table in their size chart section of the website with a range of plus sizes which would be more than adequate.
The trouble with this is that nothing that I have been able to find actually comes in these apparently mythical plus sizes.
So. What's up with that? Where are they keeping the articles of clothing which actually come in these sizes?
